Ryno aka Menace Posted September 29, 2005 Report Posted September 29, 2005 I think we are gonna take it to them in front of a larger crowd than the home opener. There are alot of people mad they missed a good game so I expect a larger crowd, causing our team to be pumped up. I am gonna say the score will be 38 - 21 Akron. Quote
ziplock Posted September 29, 2005 Report Posted September 29, 2005 I hope you are right about the crowd..It was distressing to see so many leaving before the game's end Saturday. I take solace in the fact that this pretty much happens at every sporting event I attend, Indians, Cavs, Browns, etc. Score-wise, I think you are on the right track on our 37 points. I think we can put up some numbers. I have more confidence in the D, however, and I predict they will stuff the CMU offense and give up no more than 2 td's. NIU's offense was a real test for our guys, who really wore down in the fourth qtr. I just do not see CMU challenging our D that way. Quote
Zips fan Posted September 29, 2005 Report Posted September 29, 2005 I hate to seem pesimisstic but I think this is going to be a very close game. I think that CMU is a solid program and will challenge the Zips. I am hoping for 31-28 win in front of a 20,000 person crowd. Quote
msopher Posted September 29, 2005 Report Posted September 29, 2005 CMU sucks like most Michigan teams. Akron 141 CMU 7 Quote
Zipsrifle Posted September 29, 2005 Report Posted September 29, 2005 CMU sucks like most Michigan teams. Akron 141 CMU 7 WOW 20 TD's and one blocked extra point that Rohr throws into the endozone for a 2 point conversion! Quote
Dr Z Posted September 29, 2005 Report Posted September 29, 2005 I like 34-23. Zips. I see a defensive score this week, maybe a ST score too. Quote
InTheZone Posted September 29, 2005 Report Posted September 29, 2005 Guys to be totally honest we should've blown out NIU who is supposed to be one of the best teams in the MAC. I don't think some of you realize how good our Zips really are. You will after this week. Akron 49 CMU 10 Quote
Captain Kangaroo Posted September 29, 2005 Report Posted September 29, 2005 Guys to be totally honest we should've blown out NIU who is supposed to be one of the best teams in the MAC. I don't think some of you realize how good our Zips really are. You will after this week. Akron 49 CMU 10 CMU should have beat Indiana, but their RB's helmet got ripped off on his TD run and it got called back. They went on the road and beat Miami. They blew a 4th quarter, 4th and 2 on the EMU 22 yard line last week that let EMU march down the field and take the game to OT. EMU isn't too bad this year. CMU ain't table scraps, and the Zips are no longer a "secret." Regardless: Zips 31-CMU 20 And if you see a CMU fan in the lot before the game or walking up to the Rubber Bowl...wish them luck. If they walk by your tailgate, offer 'em a beer. Dat's how we 'do in "the AK!" Quote
Zippy989 Posted September 29, 2005 Report Posted September 29, 2005 Vandelay: Nick’s Pick: Akron 35 – CMU 23 Line: Akron by 11 Comment: To quote “The Monkeys†and “Smashmouth,†‘I’m a believer’ when it comes to JD Brookhart and his Akron team. The home win over a very good NIU team was huge for this program as during the Lee Owens era, that would have been the type of game the Zips lost instead of won in OT. Central is reeling from a home loss to intra-state rival EMU. Look for Akron to win by a good margin. MAC Report Online: Akron was expected by many to be in a rebuilding phase, only returning 12 starters and having to replace All-MAC quarterback, and four-year starter, Charlie Frye. Instead, the Zips sit atop the MAC East in a three-way tie and appear to have found a solid successor to Charlie Frye. Behind quarterback Luke Getsy, the Zips will be seeking their first 2-0 MAC start since 2001. ...... Akron may be the best team in the MAC East this season and should make it eight victories in their last ten games, dating back to last season. Prediction: Akron 38, Central Michigan 17. CBS Sportsline: Akron 31 Central Michigan 20 I like the Zips by 7-10 points. Akron 34, CMU 24 Quote
zipper Posted September 29, 2005 Report Posted September 29, 2005 I agree with the Captain. This is not the same old CMU - I think it's going to be a VERY evenly matched game. Our guys better bring their A game or it ain't gonna be pretty. Quote
RACER Posted September 29, 2005 Report Posted September 29, 2005 the game scares me. the zips coming off a huge emotional win.i have to agree with c\k. cmu beat miami on the road, and have indiana all they could handle. i hope the zips bring the a game. the defense to me is still a big ? mark. hopefully the o can keep putting up the points. feel the force luke!! akron 35 cmu 31. go akron. ZipDude Posted September 29, 2005 Report Posted September 29, 2005 Another country heard from!!!!!!!!!!!! I think the CMU W over the Redsquat's speaks volumes but anyway go Zips !!!! Quote
zipboy Posted September 30, 2005 Report Posted September 30, 2005 CMU is no slouch but we are still more talented. Zips don't take anyone lightly in the JD era. Zips win 31-17 in a hard fought contest that Akron nervously controls throughout. Crowd of 16K. Quote
InTheZone Posted September 30, 2005 Report Posted September 30, 2005 Maybe I'm just an optimist, but I see a 20K crowd for Saturday. There's been a lot written about this team lately and a couple of nice opinion columns on campus in the Buchtelite. The students are really starting to love this team, and for the first time I can remember Zips players are lovable household names around campus. Student interest is peaked, and the community likes a winner. Hopefully that translates into a big crowd. Quote
Zipsrifle Posted September 30, 2005 Report Posted September 30, 2005 You would think that living near Flint I would hear TONS about CMU.....WRONG. I don't know anything about them. I won't make a score prediction about the game, but feel the Zips should win. I still don't think we are in any position to overlook ANYONE! JD will have the guys ready, we just need to continue improving. And if you see a CMU fan in the lot before the game or walking up to the Rubber Bowl...wish them luck. If they walk by your tailgate, offer 'em a beer. Dat's how we 'do in "the AK!" Totally agree Cap'n. Too bad to hear some of the NIU fans were given crap after the game. We need to go out of our way to make the opposing fans feel at home. Quote
zipsbandman Posted September 30, 2005 Report Posted September 30, 2005 I've had PROFESSORS talk about the NIU win, people I would not expect talking about the zips. Not to mention the student body is definitely taking notice with this team. It's going to be a great atmosphere on Saturday. Times a changin' Quote
Z-P Posted September 30, 2005 Report Posted September 30, 2005 If there's anything I've learned over the years, it's that any given MAC/MAC game is, in reality, unpredictable. Having said that however, UA 35 CMU 20. Why? I think this club has: #1 attitude.......showed it last week when they willed themselves into OT and then willed themselves the W. #2. emerging talent sufficient to take the field against anybody in D1A by mid season, and I do mean anybody. #3. an "authentic" D1A coaching staff to support and develope them. #4. a QB with an attitude..............this cat's not going to live in Superman's shadow, and he'll do whatever is necessary to prove it...............I reallllllllllllllllly like that. #5. after the games of the past 2 weeks, these guys smell a possible MACC and they are not going o blow the chance after getting shafted for a Bowl Trip last season. Hey, we need to get Luke a nicname! Forget "Cool Hand" because it sucks and is not descriptive of his game................cool?.............maybe, but I'd say "firey" is more appropriate............... ILFSITF Welcome back big man aka the Dude Quote
Kangaroo Craig Posted September 30, 2005 Report Posted September 30, 2005 Zips win by 21. Less than 15,000 at the bowl. Quote
