Quickzips Posted March 12, 2010 Report Posted March 12, 2010 Ohh hell's to the yeah. Ohio State in the first round with the chance to take on Xavier if we make it through. You wanna get Joe Akron excited about Zips basketball...right there would be your chance. Quote
MDZip Posted March 12, 2010 Report Posted March 12, 2010 Would hate to be a 14 seed, but all of the 13's are on the West Coast. At least the 3/14 sites are a lot closer to get more Zips fans there. Quote
Big Zip Posted March 12, 2010 Report Posted March 12, 2010 OSU is probably going to be a 1 seed at worst a 2 seed this guy is nuts. If you think we were out athleted by Can't and Medlock scored 42 on us....what do you think Ohio State would do and how much do you think Evan Turner would score on us? I think this would not be good for us at all. Quote
Dr Z Posted March 12, 2010 Report Posted March 12, 2010 I would love to play OSU in the big dance, but there is no way OSU is going to be a 3 seed. Quote

I think this would not be good for us at all.I clearly get what you are saying about the athleticism, and the personnel mismatch. But, as far as I am concerned, it is all about OPPORTUNITY. I don't think any potential upset would benefit us more than beating the team that is covered daily by newspapers and tv stations across the entire state. And until we step on the court and beat them, or pass them in the national rankings, I don't think many of the OSWho bandwagoners are ever going to recognize us as anything other than a good basketball team from a nobody-cares conference. More than once this week, someone said to me, "You're going to the MAC tournament games?". So, I welcome any chance we get to prove something. Quote
Dave in Green Posted March 12, 2010 Report Posted March 12, 2010 All 14 seeds are huge underdogs to all 3 seeds. If the Zips get into the NCAA tournament, I'd rather see them be a huge underdog to OSU than to another power team from half a continent away.Everyone in Ohio would expect OSU to destroy the Zips, so any decent showing would help earn some respect in their home state. Imagine if the Zips could play OSU as close as they played Gonzaga last season for 30 minutes with all of Ohio closely watching. Now that would create a buzz.Too many variables to think this matchup has much of a chance of happening. But it could if the Zips avoid being upset in the MAC tournament and OSU slips in the Big 10 tournament. Quote

Kudos to them. Quote
Dave in Green Posted March 12, 2010 Report Posted March 12, 2010 And as we're discussing this, OSU hits a desperation 3-point shot as the game clock runs out to squeak by Michigan 69-68 and avoid a loss that could well have made them a 3 seed. Quote
Zip Watcher Posted March 12, 2010 Report Posted March 12, 2010 I'm thinking we pull for the Zippers to win tonight first .. then tomorrow .. and then worry about next week. Quote

GP1 Posted March 12, 2010 Report Posted March 12, 2010 I'm thinking we pull for the Zippers to win tonight first .. then tomorrow .. and then worry about next week.I'm absolutely certain the Zips are going to win tonight and tomorrow. This league is horrible and the only team we could lose to lost last night. The only outstanding questions relate to pre-game/post game parties and hangovers. No better time than now to debate next week. Quote
akronzips71 Posted March 12, 2010 Report Posted March 12, 2010 I don't get that. The only thing we know for sure is that K-ENT is not going automagically. Other than that, how can they have Akron in the dance yet? Two more tough games to go. Even if we do get by WMU, Ohio and Miami can still play tough. Quote
