bigzipguy
Anybody concerned about Nik's sometimes lack of control his emotions? I love how the guy plays, and his engery but , I believe he was out of control last night and hurt us badly.
Tracker400
I don't worry so much about his emotions as I do his pivot foot.
GoZips
Yes he did.Nik needs to focus that energy and play with in himself. He never seemed to get himself to play with discipline. And, like you, I love his passion. It just can not flounder around.
Valpo Zip
If we lost last night, i think Nik would have been to blame for it. I think that he was too anxious not to foul (after fouling out the previous night) that he wasn't focused on his game. Also, when will he learn to start dribbling before moving his feet? Quickzips
Nik was all over the place last night. He takes it very personally when something doesn't go quite right for him, and he can't do that. You just have to shake it off and know you will get it done the next time. Don't get me wrong, I love the dude's emotion, and I think it is necessary on a team that sometimes looks like it is falling asleep. He has had a lot of times this year when he has been able to harness that emotion and turn it into a positive for himself and the team. We need more of that out of him tonight and less of the "I'm gonna take my ball and go home" look that I saw last night.
Dave in Green
Didn't we just have this discussion about Hitchens? Emotional players have their good and bad nights, just like streak shooters. When they keep their emotions focused on basketball fundamentals, they can have a great game. When they're distracted, their emotions can get them in trouble and hurt the team. Humpty did a good job of channeling his emotions into good plays last night and Nik did not. KD obviously realized that Nik was having a bad night and kept him sitting a lot. That gave more PT to the guy who ended up winning it for the Zips -- C. McKnight.Once again, KD's philosophy of playing deep into the bench and riding whoever is hot in a particular game paid off. Who knows who it will be next time?

Who knows who it will be next time?Did anyone else notice when Nicola came out of game KD patted him on back and Nicola yelled at him and yanked his arm away, then when given a water bottle he slammed it down. These are your teammates for gods sake. What does he say to them in locker room? That cant be good. And surprisingly whos trying to get him calmed down and focused a few minutes later? Humpty. Wow- nice to see him try to take a leadership role ( if hes ready to be that mature). With Euton, Green, and Egner coming in next year Nicks gonna need to be focused to get PT. akronzips71
Everyone has a bad night. Nik likes to go to the hoop, it was not there last night.I would rather have 100 guys with emotion than 1 guy with none. Unless of course that guy was David Kool, who does keep his COOL.No one could ever accuse Nik of not playing hard, and that's what we want. He just got unfocused last nite and forgot there is no "I" in "TEAM". He'll get over it.
Hilltopper
I will predict that the big Dutchman is going to have a hard time guarding Nik tonite. He is much quicker than VanKempen.
Dr Z
Nik's emotional game makes him great. Nik's emotional game makes him bad. The same thing that makes him good, is the same thing that gets him in trouble. It reminds me of Big Ben, he holds on to the ball forever, sometimes it turns into a big play for a TD, sometimes it turns into a sack. The same thing you love him for one minute, your cussing him out for the next. The one thing I would like to see Nik change about his game is the "flopping." He doesn't need to do it, he is a good defender. Square up and get your hands up, he'll have much more success. I trust that Nik will find an emotional balance sooner than later. He seems to be progressing to me.Nik getting mad when he got taken out of the game didn't bother me, I think the dude has more heart than most, and he wants to win more than most too. I did find it entertaining when Humpty come over to talk to him on the bench. That was cool.
