akronzips71
By the way, that Ohio win last night was worth CASH MONEY for Akron. THAT is how you benefit. How much, though. Something trivial like $5k per school? Can't's sweet 16 credits are set to expire and unless OU can win their next game it still means a reduction in NCAA money. About $125,000 per school per round. The payout from the Elite Eight run expired a couple years ago. But is that divided amongst all of the schools in the conference or is it what each school gets? If it is the former, VMD was not far off. Like I said, per school. Each unit (or game played) was only $222,206 last year per conference. Unless you are talking about the aggregate over the 5-year period, that isn't close to $125K per school NCAA.org source Click on link "Current Basketball Revenue Distribution Information" By that chart, the entire conference has gotten $222,206 each year (since we only have gotten one post season unit each year). That is a far cry from $12k per school. In fact, divide it by 12 members and it's $18,700 each school.
OZoner
Now the conference gets two units. The total payout will be in six figures.
Zip Watcher
Isn't the annual payout equal to the number of units won over the past 5 or 6 years? So even if a unit is 200K, the total take for the conference this year would be 5X that since they've earned 5 units over the past 5 years (or whatever the duration is)? Go Mid Majors! Zip Watcher
I get this feeling that if I keep coming around here over the weekend, should one of my 4 horses in this race make the next round, we'll be talking about how Murray St. is no longer a mid-major. B) B) Go Teams! Go Male Dancer!

Zip Watcher
Now the conference gets two units. The total payout will be in six figures. The conference only gets 2 units for 1 year...2010. But based on quick google and wiki-research (which is always 100% correct), they're paid on the total units earned in the past 6 years. So where in 2009 the conference got paid on 6 units (6 * 222k => $111k per school), in 2010 and at least through 2015, the annual payout will now be 7 units. After the Zips win the title in 2013, there will be significant benefit to Conference USA .. er .. I mean the MAC. Go Zips!!! Edit: Here are some citations for the detail oriented. Southern Miss Fan Snell over @ NCAAbbs did the legwork on this a couple of weeks ago. and he found: This extremely helpful paper, which appears to be Official. It appears that page 7 through 9 are the most pertinent to the discussion. Note that in 08-09, the MAC also had 7 units .. I think because of leftover residuals from the last MAC team to win a tournament game. Payout was over $1.4m last year. Hope this helps. BubbaWalther
Okay, I couldn't pass up on this... Cooper is over rated?????!!!!! you wouldn't trade a urinal???? I will keep this page in my favourites to provide a link to it every time we play them and he detroys us for the next 3 years. He has his good nights but....good players don't have awful nights like Cooper look at these point totals 2 - Delaware 3 boards, 5 assists, 3 steals, 0 turnovers 5 - EKU Actually he had 12 points, along with 11 assists 5 - Pitt 5 steals 6 - IUPUI 9 assists 7 - Ball State 8 assists 5 boards 5 - Wright State 4 - Miami 9 assists 4 boards 6 - BGSU 10 boards 11 assists 7 steals  MAC tournament 2 - Can't Bad Knee 2 - Miami It was better in time to drop 23 points, 7 boards, and 6 assists on you guys. When there are players that average 30+ pts a game out there, some guy from OU who averages 13pts a game really doesn't impress me. I'd consider someone a decent player if he averaged around 20...but 13? get real Troy Cotton from Green Bay averages 36!?!?!?! that's impressive but no ones cares about him around here
