a-zip
I said weeks ago we need to keep the good people we have in place or all efforts will be wasted. I don't understand why we don't throw a little cash around to keep these people. I will keep my faith in LP like the majority does. I am of the mind that "if it ain't broke, don't break it." I would sacrifice a few bones to keep quality people if it costs a couple less stands or suites in the "new stadium"...... It won't get filled anyways...and BTW you CAN plan for expansion! The stadium will cost millions, you need the right people to make it happen. Thomas, 45, received his B.S. degree in Business Administration from Colorado State University in 1983 Brookhart, who starred as a wide receiver at Colorado State (1985-87) Cincy needs a new B-Ball coach........ours is pretty good, if the $s are there..Yeeha. DEJA VU Ba bye.
InTheZone
No way. KD is not nearly proven enough yet. The folks in Cinci would throw an absolute fit if anyone like Dambrot was even in the final 3. They want a big name for a big time program down there. KD is in Akron for at least another 3-4. Great leaders know that great people are the key, W-Ls are not everything in the first years. If I was AD, I would want a recruiter, charisma, and an Xs-Os guy......... if you say KD needs a couple years, I says he will be bought. I was hoping he was a homer and will stay to be a legend. zipper
I was always under the impression that KD wants to stay here and build a dynasty here. In basketball that's much easier to do at any school as long as you're Division 1. Of course, Akron U will have to pony up to keep Dambrot, but I think Dr. P and the BOT is wise enough to know that. Since MT's arrival they seem to have a much better grasp on what our programs should look like and how to play with the big boys on this stuff. I know someone who was on the search committee for Brookhart, and he was the overwhelming choice of all of them, I was told. Maybe the CSU connection got him an interview, but he did have two Belitnikoff (sp?) winners under his tutelage at Pitt. I remember when he was hired there was some quote from Mike Shannahan about JD. He definitely was qualified, I think.
Captain Kangaroo
Cinci just hired a football coach last season. He's going nowhere for at least 3 years, even if he totally sucks. If he totally sucks and gets canned....and IF JD continues to grow the Akron program over the next 3-4 years...then I could see MT calling JD. If that happened I would be estatic, because that would mean we actually had a championship football team. Dambrot is WAY too small a "name" to fill their existing hoops position. His experience is WAY too short. Cinci can get serious, household, proven "name" for that position without even picking up the phone. KD will be @ Akron for the next several years. Again, if he bolts I will be estatic because it will mean our hoops team won a championship or two. BTW: MT first met JD during his interview @ Pitt two years ago. Although they attended the same University they were not buddies.

If KD brings us success in BB, I hope we have learned from our mistakes 20 years ago when Huggins built the program up, was let go without a fight, and we focused on a fledging football program. Personally, I throw the football program under the bus and ride a successfull BB program to greater things -- In other words, give KD what he wants - enough money, security, and committment to make HIS university a annual NCAA Tourney participant. I think he would stay. Is there anything better then putting your name on something you built ? Don't make the same mistake. Has anyone every wondered.... 20 years ago, we decided to put FB first and bypass an emerging BB program. What would have happened in those 20 years had we focused on BB ? I'd venture to say you would have your new on campus FB stadium by now...a strong fan base....definately an upgraded JAR (maybe an arena) due to 20+ years of BB success......and winning these MAC championships sure gets boring, what other conferences would be knocking on our door (Decisions, Decisions... Big East or Conference USA hmmm)......annual Gonzaga/Akron battle of the top mid majors...What? Ohio State won't play us this year again in BB......LBJ decides to play one year at Akron (To really be great, you must win championships at all levels like Jordan and Magic)....dare to dream, learn from history and change your future.
