ZachTheZip
Everybody loves to rank all 120 football teams from worst to best. It's an exercise in BSing to keep their BS skills sharp for the regular season. Here is one from some football blog, with a link to ZN.O
liljc
Wow, that was a pretty good breakdown. Glad I took the time to read it.
mes102
interesting stats here on another one of their articles about coaching changes between all conferences http://www.presnapread.com/we-have-a-new-c...s-a-good-thing/
goodthts
Good breakdown except for this: "High point Akron mounted only a pair of victories over F.B.S. competition – with one coming against winless Eastern Michigan. So, for the first time in the history of the Countdown (this disaster just turned three), a team cites a win over Can't State (by eight points at home) as its high point of its season. Congratulations?" Yikes! So I for one am hopeful that there is improvement in at least their record, but also in my drink selection pre-game. Some things just DO NOT go well with brautwurst. cornbread
The kicking game is something you can size-up quickly by looking at stats. This guy knows his stats. This offense did little well, if anything at all: 118.4 yards rushing per game (94th nationally), more interceptions than touchdowns, woeful on third down and horrific — I’m not sure if this is too strong a word — in the kicking game. Fortunately for us, I think this is one of the easiest things to fix. I hope it is addressed.

MDZip
This link was supplied in another topic but seems to fit in here even better. The Orlando Sentinel also does a countdown and they are down to #98 and still no sign of the Zips. I say no way we slip past #95. http://blogs.orlandosentinel.com/sports_co....html#more-6409 No. 120 Eastern Michigan No. 119 FIU No. 118 Western Kentucky No. 117 Miami (Ohio) No. 116 Tulane No. 115 Memphis No. 114 San Jose State No. 113 North Texas No. 112 Washington State No. 111 Toledo No. 110 UNLV No. 109 New Mexico No. 108 Colorado State No. 107 Rice No. 106 Ball St. No. 105 Utah St. No. 104 Syracuse No. 103 Louisiana-Lafayette No. 102 FAU No. 101 Louisiana Tech No. 100 Wyoming No. 99 New Mexico St. No. 98 Buffalo

In fact, I was anticipating the Zips at #100 on the money. Then we could have said, "We're #1!!!......................................hundred" Maybe the folks in Orlando still recall the Zips beating the Knights in the last two games played by UA and UCF? dreal1scout
Pre Snap Read lists 5 things he likes about Akron and 5 things he dislikes. As far as his prediction " but I don’t expect the Zips to do much better than last year’s mark", he's just another no-nothing sports writer using pseudo-science to make his point, which BTW is utter crap/nonsense. All those In-the Know (like myself, CoachI, the whole DL, the whole OL, all DB, and the WHOLE 2010 ZIPS TEAM already know that we are the 2010 . All the naysayers will just have to wait and see that I am right. I don't give a damn about those jealous of our ZIPS. Our 2010 MAC Championship willl speak for ourselves. GO ZIPS! Zipmeister
3. Big concerns in the secondary. Particularly at safety. Only three players who took even a single snap at safety return at that position in 2010. Akron might need one of its incoming recruits to earn significant playing time as true freshmen. He has this listed as something he dislikes!! How many safeties are quick enough t take a snap away from the opposing quarterback? And we have three of them!! man that's quicktastic. MDZip
Yes, Virginia, you're number 95! Link Can't believe we're lower than that, and stop calling me Virginia (otherwise I'd be VAZip). Oh you meant the team. Now I'm going to guess we won't be lower than 90. If I'm wrong long enough, we can get to #1.

In spite of this, I believe they pick the Zips 6th in the MAC East. Your link doesn't seem to exist. Hmmm you're correct. They must have taken it down temporarily because I read the full article earlier. They mention all of the expected (scheme switch, QB named in August, Lemon ordeal, Ianello's recruiting reputation) and sum it up by saying we should expect some "rookie" HC mistakes in this year of transition. If you Google "JD Brookhart" and look at the "News" options only, the Orlando Sentinel story picking the Zips at #91 will be first in the list of three. I'll bet they'll have it back up tomorrow. Here is a new link. New Link Edit: Revision 1 corrects "some" to "sum".
