Z.I.P. Posted July 7, 2010 Report Posted July 7, 2010 Like last year, they're only available to season ticket holders. The scarves are going out this time to season ticket holders for both sides - men's and women's. Last year, I believe they only went for the men's tickets. I think that's a nice marketing point, or else Coach Pfau sticking up for his team and fans. Has anyone seen the other side? And, I got a letter from Coach saying I'd be called by a team rep seeking my reenlistment of support. If you need my number, its -- edit --. Quote
Zipmeister Posted July 7, 2010 Report Posted July 7, 2010 OK soccer fans, order a scarf or two, then go to this link and click on tribute to the world cup It's almost like being there. Quote
ZachTheZip Posted July 15, 2010 Author Report Posted July 15, 2010 Season ticket holders can pick up their scarves on August 20th. Chair-back seating for the upcoming University of Akron men's soccer season is at 90 percent capacity, while nearly 60 percent of all reserved season tickets - chair-backs and bleacher-backs - have been sold since going on sale just a week ago, the UA Ticket Office announced Thursday. More than 400 Akron soccer season tickets have been purchased for the 2010 campaign, which is nearly three times last year's total (147), since being made available to the public last Thursday morning. Also announced Thursday, all Akron soccer season ticket holders (both men's and women's) will be invited to an exclusive event on August 20 prior to the women's regular season opener against Illinois State at 7:30 p.m., at the newly renovated Lee Jackson Field. Fans will be able to pick up their season tickets and Akron Soccer scarves at that time and have the opportunity to meet UA men's head coach Caleb Porter and women's head coach Chris Pfau. Additionally, the men's team will be on-hand to sign autographs during halftime of the women's game that night. Check back to GoZips.com for more details. Any tickets not picked up on Aug. 20 will be mailed the following day. Tickets will not be mailed before this time. Quote
ZachTheZip Posted July 15, 2010 Author Report Posted July 15, 2010 Having over 400 season tickets sold for college soccer is amazing. If we sell out all chairback and reserved tickets, it would put us in the top 40 schools for average attendance even without students, GA season ticket holders, and the walk-up crowd. http://web1.ncaa.org/web_files/stats/m_soc...2010/attend.pdf We don't have the capacity to compete with UCSB for the attendance title. We can move into the top 5 this year, though. Quote
MDZip Posted August 16, 2010 Report Posted August 16, 2010 Also got a mention in the Athletic Business Website. Talking about how some schools are starting to pick this up, but that we are in our second year. Quote

I want some credit here, considering that I got none for "Fear the Roo!" Quote

I hope I don't have to fly to Akron to pick up my scarf this time. That would make it a pretty expensive purchase. Quote

This year, I just read this on GoZips.com "More than 750 season tickets have been sold for the 2010 season, but some still remain". Outstanding, just goes to show what a little success will do for you. Quote

I'm not sure if I ever saw any further clarification on this, so I called the ticket office just now and the "meet-n-greet" for season ticket holders will begin at 6:30 pm tonight. I'm a 1st time soccer season ticket holder, so I'm pretty excited about getting the scarves. Should be a fun weekend of UA sports! Quote
jem101 Posted August 20, 2010 Report Posted August 20, 2010 Anyone know if the Rowdies will have access to scarves? Quote
ZachTheZip Posted August 20, 2010 Author Report Posted August 20, 2010 Anyone know if the Rowdies will have access to scarves? Eventually, I think. Right now, the Rowdies don't even officially exist until next week. Quote

I'm a 1st time soccer season ticket holder, so I'm pretty excited about getting the scarves. Should be a fun weekend of UA sports! Sadly, the scarves were not ready on Friday night. The certificate just wasn't the same, especially for those of us that it is not easy to get them in person. Regardless, though, the get together at the Info was very nice (got to meet Doc Nash, one of the Zips early soccer coaches), the ladies game was fun and the stadium is very nice. The chair backs were a nice touch. On Monday, the Zips basketball golf tournament was also a lot of fun (would have been even better if we could have just hit a shot from 80 yards out). Quote
Z.I.P. Posted August 25, 2010 Report Posted August 25, 2010 Just spoke with Adam at the ticket office. The scarves have arrived, and one is on its way to Hawai'i. It appears that someone in the ticket office now is questioning whether WOMEN'S season ticket holders are entitled to a scarf. But I explained to Adam that that's what was written in the offer on Gozips.com. I hope they get that one squared away, and there is a sea of scarves at Lee Jackson -- AND (knock on wood) at UCSB in December. And MDZip, thanks for the mention of Doc Nash. Glad to hear he's doing well. Quote
