Any word on the team shop at the Info? This is becoming beyond ridiculous. How is it that I cannot purchase anything worthwhile to show support for my team? Have you checked out the storefront on gozips lately? They are promoting polos. Click on the polos tab. . . nothing available. Does anybody know why our merchandise offering is so pathetic? It really pisses me off in case you can't tell. Especially when you can make Akron Zips LeBron James jerseys available to pretty young girls for a totally inane and ill-conceived panderfest. a totally inane and ill-conceived panderfest.

Absolutely fantastic string of words.

Isn't one question, If Panderfest 2010 didn't work, aren't the organizers of the event to blame for LBJ leaving and isn't LBJ just a victim of an inane and ill-conceived event?

I sent an email to the contact person on the team shop page on 7/8 asking about replica football jerseys and still have not received a response. This is now the third email I have sent since last year to all different people and have yet to receive a response.

This University is a joke when it comes to merchandise and the promotion of its teams. I think last year was the first time I had seen a billboard promoting the team and the new stadium, yet every year I see Can't State billboards all over Akron and Summit County.

They are so reactive to situations i.e. soccer team success and are never proactive i.e. we have a new stadium, hey lets sell jerseys.

I have followed the Zips to many away games and have seen other schools with readily available jerseys and team gear at the games.

Luckily I found a website years ago AthleteTech.com that used to sell replicas jerseys for the Zips and i ws able to get an away #5 but now those jerseys are out of date since last year.

Every year this school does something that just makes me lose more faith. They have a great opportunity to grow the program and just seem content to do nothing about it.

The heck with the merchandise, how much is one of them girls?

For about 3 minutes?

What would you do with the extra 2.5 minutes?

Oh my. You guys crack me up sometimes.

I say we get rid of the horse emoticon all together. It seems like someone always feels inclined to put that thing up there when a popular topic is discussed. People want to talk about it, so it's a popular topic. So be it. Isn't that why were all here?

So are you looking for a specific jersey or not?

So are you looking for a specific jersey or not?

No I just know a few folks who are looking to buy replica jerseys. I would like to purchase one as well.

I have the replica #5 White away jersey and I have a #49 Home game worn jersey from the JT days when we still rocked the blue and yellow scheme, I love it has the sew marks and helmet paint marks on it.

I would love to get another game worn jersey.

Why do have access to jerseys?

Sorry, I am guessing Mondo is Almondo Sewell. Is that correct?

Yes, that is correct. Or Bryan Wagner. Or any number really. Would love to have a jersey to wear to the game.

Barnes and Noble is the problem. They're the reason we can't open up a real team shop in the stadium. They're the reason the team shop in the JAR is only open like 3 hours a day. They're the reason we can't get more variety and have to go to places like Kohls or Walmart to find different Zips-brand clothes.

What would the possibility be of organizing some mass correspondence to the ASG? Sometimes the student gov can actually make a stronger impact on the university than anything else for these kinds of things. My guess, most of the upper level administrators are unaware of the big demand for some good jerseys.

Ok, the reason the team shop isn't open in the JAR has to do with who the operator of that team shop was. The reason the stadium team shop isn't open has to do with a few things.

First, we eminent domained the property where the team shop and parking now exist. Barnes and Noble won the contract to operate the team shop, they wanted it to have a coffee shop in the team shop to drive traffic 7 days a week. Because of eminent domain rules, you can not acquire a property and replace it with the same business. So there are several legal loop holes that have to worked through. Second, the Athletic Department had to convince powers that be that team apparrel shop was vastly different then The Odd Corner. They are trying to avoid lawsuits that may occur from opening the team shop. For the time being it is likely that the official stadium team shop will be open on game days and during some of the premier sporting events (soccer).

If we want jerseys (and I want all three major sports available) we have to inundate Barnes and Noble and the Athletic Department with requests. It's that simple. To us it only makes sense that official jerseys are available, to Barnes and Noble, it only makes sense to stock items that move large volume. So the biggest thing we can do is e-mail bomb the person in charge of purchasing.

Unfortunately the only good e-mail I can find is this....

bksakron@bncollege.com

Remember three important words Authentic Official Jersey. Do not say replica, because they already sell the generic blue ones in the book store in the student union.

This is all completely ridiculous. Either the university has determined that there isn't enough fan interest to warrant doing the work required to open and stock a team shop (or team shops) or the folks running the show are incompetent. There is no reasonable excuse for opening a 61 million dollar stadium and letting something like a team shop languish the way they have. It's actually starting to color the way I see the overall program, quite frankly. It's hard to get excited about a program that doesn't seem to care enough to even want to suck money from my pockets on "game gear". Idiots. Small time. Am I supposed to accept that UA is just small time? Mediocre forever? That's sure as hell the message that the university sends out, loud and clear, about its athletic programs time and again.

Maybe it isn't an either/or situation. Maybe the word AND would fit better.

If they don't want to open it, then fine. Just make the decision work some other way. If they want to open it, open it and make the decision work. Someone make a decision please and execute on a decision.

At the end of Huckelberry Finn, Huck leaves Jim for more exploration and his relationship with Jim unfinished in many ways. It was Twain's way of comparing their relationship to the end of the Civil War. At the end of the Civil War, Americans focused to the west and largely ignored the race problem in the south. People have a way of moving on before tasks are completed. We see that here with the football stadium. They are now moving on to other "building" projects and leaving the big one they had somewhat incomplete. It's an old story.

I think Sam stole the basic concept from Homer's Iliad.
