lance99 Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 http://espn.go.com/blog/acc/post/_/id/1312...-jarmon-fortson Why would you want someone like that? If the reasoning is true why the kicked off the team "dismissed for multiple failed drug tests." The last thing you need on a team is someone like that Quote
GP1 Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 Why would you want someone like that? So that he can win some games. A coach gets about three years before the "graveyard" catches him. If Coach I is still here after three years, his career is over. Faust never coached again. Owens is at a D-II school where he continues his second place finishes and let's face it, D-II is like coaching high school. Too early to tell about JD....my guess is he could sit on his $250K this year until something better came along. Quote

The last thing you need on a team is someone like that Guys who like to smoke a little weed don't destroy teams... guys with attitude problems and senses of entitlement do. Give the guy a chance, tell him if he fails one test he's gone, and then leave up to him to either make the best decision for himself or not to. It's a no lose situation. Quote

I have a more practical way of keeping him on the team. Tell him if he fails onee test he's gone, and then never drug test him. That's how smart schools run their drug testing. Some of you might be surprised to know how many guys playing college athletics smoke weed on a regular basis. Weed should be legalized anyhow........ I have to get my glaucoma checked. Quote

That was the policy when I played... for some strange reason, when those "random" tests came around, the guys with 4.0's going to church every Sunday sure got drawn from that hat often, while the guys who everyone knew was smoking always seemed to "luck out". The only issue was those once a year NCAA tests.... but if you're smoking you've still only got a 10% chance of having your name called for those. Quote
Dr Z Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 I think a wideout from FSU can test positive for marijuana, come to the MAC, & end up in the NFL HOF... Exhibit A_________ Jarmon speaks in this video... Quote
Zipsrifle Posted August 10, 2010 Report Posted August 10, 2010 Don't want him, let someone else deal with his issues. Now, where is that dead horse smilie????? Oh, here it is.... Quote

No see, I think this would be a mutually beneficial relationship, in which the issues of both parties can be worked out. We can help him deal with his issue of smoking a little too much reefer, and he can help us deal with our issue of continuously sucking. Quote

Why would a 5-star recruit come to Akron though? Hard to imagine, but it'd be a great addition! He got the big thrill of going to a huge school. Maybe he wants to come home and play. Not only that....Dick Rod is ruining that program. I cant blame him for getting out. I find it highly unlikely that he would come here, but we can all wish. Quote
InTheZone Posted August 12, 2010 Author Report Posted August 12, 2010 Being that he's already redshirted, I would imagine he would want to look at FCS schools being that if he transferred to another FBS he'd only get to play for 3 years. Quote
