Great article! Thanks.

Go Zips! Be safe (I'll be feeling a little more at ease once Earl passes N. Carolina)

I like it.:

''When I first heard from Caleb, I didn't know where Akron was, I didn't know it was in Ohio,'' senior co-captain Anthony Ampaipitakwong admitted. ''Players would tell me, 'Akron? Why are you going there?' I got it from everywhere, even my family.''

But, I wonder, if Ampai were from Akron -- as good as he was (and is) would he have come to UA? If he were FROM Akron, he might have been already infected with the fatal illness, that if it's Akron, it can't be any good.

Thank you Doctor Porter, for offering the cure! Now let's get that vaccine distributed widely.

I guess LBJ still has some work to do.

Coach Porter is going to be on 19 Action News tonight around maybe 10:30

Awesome. Thanks Zach. I've been e-mailing Tony Zarella several times in the past month to do a story on the Zips. I don't know that he did it because of my e-mails, but kudos to 19 Action News

You remember, the Zips Men's Soccer Team played for the Div 1 National Championship last December and were undefeated throughout the regular season and up to the final game (lost to UVa on PK's). Although, there are no guarantees for this season, Coach Porter appears to have reloaded. He just recently added 2 players from Jamaica in addition to a great recruiting class that was announced in the Spring. Here's an article about one of those Jamaican players, Darren Mattocks, http://jam.live.mediaspanonline.com/sports...cks-leads-Bport

Link doesn't work. (due to "flush" word conversion on ZN.O)

Try this one: http://tinyurl.com/2v5n5so

"Forget the former King of Akron, this guy's (Kofie Sarkodi's) a legitimate prince of a village back in Ghana"

"Here in championship-starved Northeast Ohio, this team is your best shot."

Go Zips!

Great piece! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Coach Porter's theory on scheduling, I wish he would have a long talk with the basketball coach on the subject. After seeing footage again of that kick ball competition from last year, I still want those hours of my life back. As long as I live, I'll never forgive myself for that.

That was a really good piece. Zip_ME87, if you had even the tineist bit to do with helping them get that on the air, thank you. Stadium and campus in the background shots looked terrific too. I'm even going to be in North Carolina on Friday but in the wrong place. Killing me not to be able to be at the game.

I don't know that I really had anything to do with it, but Tony Zarella was very responsive and supportive all along. Those were only the first & last e-mails I sent to him. There were 2 others, and he assured me they would do a story. Getting him interested in the Zips Mens Soccer team, I think, was easy. Hopefully, he'll continue to at least mention scores throughout the season as long as he knows there's interest.
