InTheZone
10 AM Kickoff forecast from weather.com: 27 degrees, snow showers, wind chill of 12. I'll be there freezing my ass off!! Looks like we shouldn't expect too big of a crowd, even though we'll be playing for the MAC East. And guess what...it's getting back into the 50's next week . Horrible luck on the weather. Z-P
Watch the game from the Coors Beer Garden! Hey UAM, can you still get some bleachers hauled in there for the game . Flannel lined jeans, parka, scarf, tobaggan hat, radio, seat cushion, heavy socks, boots, rain parka (just in case), double gloves, see you there...............if NIU gets over, this will be the greatest! Give me 5K as my number..............sorry to say. Tough day, tough weather.
Z-P
Funny story..............thinking about a "cold game" reminds me of something. Any of you guys have wives that smoke? Know what mine tells me all the time? "You meet the nicest people smoking"..........is that a crock or what? Anyway, we were at the coldest game in the history of UA Football..............Dwight's final game at K ent...........what, 6 years ago? Anyway, out she goes at halftime for a stick.............man were we freezing. That wind whipped right under us at 20-25 MPH and the temp was only about 20. I stayed frozen to my seat, afraid to open up a crack in my armor and let cold air in.............. Back she comes for the kickoff...........and what do you think she says "dad, you meet the nicest people smoking"....................geez.............so I "bit" and said who'd you meet this time, Coach Lombardi? No she says with an attitude, but I did meet Coach Owen's mother! What? Are you kidding me? No she says................I told you "you meet the nicest people smoking".............. Gawd Go Zips! UA Fan
1987 Akron vs. YSU. Does anyone remember the snow storm? Yes, I do. My feet are almost thawed out from that one. How many times did they have to plow the field?

Zips Win!
That game was brutal....
GP1
I have many funny sideline stories from that game. The most funny being the Fausty-The-Snowman joke (only ZipsWin! will get that). If you ever have the pleasure to meet me in person, ask me to tell the story.
Hilltopper
How about Gordon Larson's last game as head coach(73?). It was the last year before artificial turf was installed at the bowl. The Zips played the Quantico Marines in a blizzard that turned the game into a huge muddy and snowy mess. They kicked our butts up one side and down the other. After the game on the radio they announced that Larson was stepping down and that assistant coach Jim Dennison would succed him. Larson stayed on as AD for several years. I hope that the team is ready for the Flushes, I'm sure they'll have a new wrinkle or two for us. Zipsrifle
'73!!! MAN, you're OLD!! All I know is that the mens room on the Home side usually had the heater set to about 115F, so I'll be stopping in there from time to time. This is going to be AWESOME!!! See you there! ZipDude
You guys be there and root for the Zips to finally win the MAC East. I tolked to 78 last night and he along with 42 and Big Gris and Paul O , Ritley and other assorted characters will be tailgating before the game and will set up camp in the Beer Garten during the game. You need a lot of anifreeze to get through this one. I do not know if ESPN will pick up the game down here (Columbus) but I will be there in spirit with all of you former players and ZipsNation members . Padre this is for you I love you man ! GP1
I would hope that JD's experience growing up in Colorado, playing at Colorado State and coaching with the Broncos might have taught him a thing or two about coaching and playing in the cold.
