Hilltopper
It's official, tomorrows game against the Flushers means more than any game in the last 20 years. Not since another JD(Jim Denison) led us to the 1-AA playoffs has as much been on the line in a game we could actually win! I'll be there freezing my ass off and dreaming of Ford Field
UA Fan
Last year's final game against Miami was for the MAC East title and a win would have gotten us to a bowl game, even if we lost the MACC.
Zipsrifle
Yea, this the most meaningful game. But it's as meaningful as the Miami game last year with the MAC East on the line. What about the 2000 Marshall game? The difference is, we SHOULD easily take this game! Do we deserve to win the MAC East, honestly, no. We are too inconsistent. After watching the BG/UT game last night, I'm convinced that Akron (when we decide to play) is near the same level as those two teams. We showed up for one game and didn't for the other. Hopefully the gods of football will allow us to sneak in through the backdoor tomorrow! We got screwed last year, so I'm going to ignore any Miami/BG fans that are whining about how we got in. The most important thing is that we need to do is beat Can't tomorrow. And with the opportunity we've been given, I'm going to be pissed if we don't blow their doors off. Can't has NOTHING to play for and we've got the winning lotto card sitting on the ground in front of us. All we need to do is pick it up and cash in!!!!! Quickzips
I disagree that Miami last year or Marshall 2000 were bigger than this. Not only is this for the MAC East, but it is also a rivalry game. That added bonus makes this the biggest game we have had in 20 years. zipboy
No one should be complaining about a backdoor way in. BG was at home with the lead in the 4th quarter and could not close it out. Even in OT, Toledo won it on a 3rd and 7 play. Any team that gets 3 safeties in the same game doesn't deserve to win either. We beat the MAC West Champ. Neither BG or Miami did either. If the Zips win tomorrow, they earned it. We have the best D of all 3 of these teams.
RACER
i agree it's a the most meaningful game in 20 years.espn, and espn 2 however thinks sportscenter, boxing, and poker(repeat) are more meaningful.where is the mac office!and the akron marketing dept! they should be all over espn right now.this is a bunch of b.s. it's not like we are getting replaced by another game either.it just show's how much lack of respect the university has. all the other mac games were on except akron. hopefully we will kick can'ts, but and then we will be on tv in the mac championship. a-zip
I don't think there are any storms or tornados forecasted........... We are playing a hated rival............. There are Championship implications(which everyone has said was needed for good attendance) TV Coverage(granted ESPNU) It's late now......the game is early I HOPE THE WHOLE F'ING CITY OF AKRON knows what is going on and GOES TO THE GAME!!! If there is a crowd supporting the team, IT IS A GUARANTEED WIN! If not, the players are doing it for themselves as usual. I will find a bar covering the game with MY throwback jersey on and work the house. 8K is my prediction and more grilling from the ESPN announcers. UA Fan
If we had beat Miami last year with Charlie Frye, it would've been a great win in and of itself and we would have gone to a bowl game which a lot of people would have watched to see the future NFL QB. If we beat hapless Can't tomorrow we'll be in the MACC but neither team really has the marquee players to command much of an audience, either at the game or on TV. I think last year was the bigger opportunity but let's just get to Ford Field, no matter what the circumstances !
GP1
If we beat Can't, we deserve the MAC East Championship. We played by the same rules as everyone else.
