ZachTheZip
This is weird, but I think that at OU will be the best game we've played so far. I don't expect a win because I think OU is the best team in the East now that Temple lost Bernard Pierce to injury. But I do expect to look respectable. I don't think we'll see so many bone-headed plays. I do think we'll see some starters from the first half of the season being replaced, especially in the defensive secondary. RootforRoo44
Well i do expect a win. We aren't as bad as our coach makes us. If he can figure out what he's doing, start motivating our players, and start earning some respect from them as well, then we have a decent chance in any game. I'm going down there for the weekend, hopefully a win will make it all the more fun.
Wally B
NO, i don't think Ohio is the best in the EAST........ I put Temple in that position until the kittens prove otherwise! Meanwhile, i'm not sure if they are pumping themselves up for the game or reminding us how we got where we are! from Utube (as posted on bcattack).... www.youtube.com/watch?v=G5_exeBypKQ#t=54s

If those were of the Zips, i would watch those every morning when i wake up. Btw wouldn't it be great to have a real coach like Solich? ZachTheZip
But anyway, their messageboard. And I wonder what our coach could do if he had a real Receiver, like Terrence McCrae.
skip-zip
I'm a little scared that OUs offense seemed to hit a high gear last weekend. But for whatever it's worth, I really think this will be the game where we find out if our somewhat-improved tackling this year is for real. For the most part, I expect OU to be a straight-at-you, physical offense. If we do well in that dept., I can be encouraged that at least one aspect of our team (run defense) seems a little better than it's been in the recent past. A victory? We seem so far away from a team that can win a game right now. But it's the MAC. We're gonna win a game eventually.

Zipgrad1990
Are we playing OSU today? You would sure think so based on the 24-0 score and total domination by the Bobcats.
RootforRoo44
Pretty bad when a team as bad as OU is embarrassing us. We may be one of the bottom 10 teams in 1AA as well. They are loving it down here though, just harassing our players to no end the entire time. Also, there is one loud Akron fan (not me actually) who has been booing Ianello and yelling things at him for the last 20 minutes...it's pretty funny. MDZip
And the last winless team in the MAC is (drumroll), the Akron Zips (I am counting today as a loss even if it is not officially over). EMU took out Ball State in overtime today.

Zipgrad1990
Performances like today certainly won't encourage me to renew my season tickets. Next year we play the other Ohio team and I see an EMU type beat down coming. Good thing basketball season is fast approaching!

MaxZIP
Nicely has been officially benched. Great drive though it seems that OU has more than a few second stringers in the game. Nice to see some zips points anyways.

ZachTheZip
The players have quit. It was the Wagon Wheel or bust in their minds, and they are busted. The coaches are too stubborn to realize it and throw in all the freshmen to get them ready for next year, though. Burn every redshirt we have unless absolutely necessary. Bench all juniors and seniors. We're toast anyway, what does it matter is we lose by a few more touchdowns when we have zero chance of winning anyway? They pretty much have burned the redshirts. Good commentary from Alleman and Joe Dunn. They have to try Rodgers next week. Give guys a chance to rally around someone. You need to get a JUCO QB anyway that can play the pro set. Put Rodgers in and run the no huddle next week. Let's see what happens.

johnnyzip84
Nicely has been officially benched. edit: and we scored....dont worry, just coincidence. I realize he wasn't playing well Saturday, or at any time since the Indiana game, but the Beacon wrap-up seemed to indicate a possible leg injury. Anyone hear more about this? ZachTheZip
Nicely should have been redshirted this season, anyway. I expressed as much before the season. I also said we wouldn't win a game because of our coaching, even against Gardner Webb, and nobody believed me.

Nicely made a couple of decisions that clearly infuriated the coaching staff. One, early in Q1, was to throw the ball away, backwards, as he was being sacked on the 15 yard line. Obvious fumble that Akron luckily recovered, but at a loss of 8 yards. The second was an intentional grounding after leaving the pocket. He was yanked immediately after that call. How about throwing the ball away, but forgetting to throw it past the line of scrimmage? I gave him a chance despite everything I've seen and heard, and now I've really had enough. Turns out he was injured. I shudder to think of how bad Matt Rodgers must look if Nicely is retaining his starting job. Coach's Press Conference Regarding senior quarterback Patrick Nicely, who sat out the fourth quarter of Saturday's Ohio game: "Patrick (Nicely) is fine, his injury isn't as serious as it looked at the time, but it was painful at the time. He is fine and we don't expect any setbacks with him practice wise. A lot of the positions I will say on this team are open after the way we played on Saturday, but Patrick will be the starting quarterback heading into Saturday's game."
