For all the jealous haters...

To all of the haters out there (WPIAL this includes you since your verbal diarrhea on this board seems to flow like natty light at a frat party):

WE WILL SHOW UP IN SPITE OF YOUR JEALOUS HATE AND DEEP DESIRE TO SEE US FAIL. REGARDLESS OF NUMBERS, THOSE THAT HAVE WAITED TO SEE THIS TEAM EMERGE FROM THE SHADOWS WILL BE THERE AND WILL BE LOUD AND ROWDY AS HELL!! COUNT ON THAT.

You all must have forgotten about that 48-42 victory in overtime earlier in the season against the same team we're going to play this Thursday for all the marbles. Now take your meds, get ready for nap time with the other children or we'll take your keyboard away from you.

Now to the rest of the Nation:

This is it, this is your time. I've only been associated with this team for a short time, but I know what it's like to want something so bad you can taste it. One game can erase 20 years of heartache. I know this is only a game, but there are times when it's much more than that, and this is one of those times. I will be coming over from Buffalo to watch this Akron team that has grown immeasurably in such a short time play the most important game in school history. Show up, be proud, AND BRING THE NOISE!

One last thing WPIAL, I'm sure you're a Pitt apologist (your season's done) since your nickname implies Western PA and you might call Akron the "ugly stepsister", but the "ugly stepsister" is going to the dance, and you can bet your sweet ass SHE GONNA DANCE!

I will see you all in Detroit! GO ZIPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Speaking of MAD East, Pete Fiutak of CollegeFootballNews.com has me mad right now.

Dude says the MAC East is Overrated and the MAC West is Underrated. What an Idiot.

Five Thoughts

Week 13

Five Thoughts: Week 1 | Week 2 | Week 3 | Week 4 | Week 5 | Week 6 | Week 7 | Week 8 | Week 9

Week 10 | Week 11 | Week 12

To repeat, no repeats.

By Pete Fiutak

1. Call me a fan of Texas and Akron this weekend. I hate repeat games. HATE them. College football is the sport it is because the regular season means everything. While I won't fire out the "every game is a playoff" cliché, the fact that the games are so meaningful week in and week out means it's the only sport in which the regular season actually matters. Texas beat Colorado 42-17 on October 15th. Akron beat Northern Illinois 48-42 in overtime on September 24th. Done. Over. Texas should be the Big 12 champions, and Akron should be the MAC champions. Fine, so NIU has a better MAC record than Akron, but my point is that teams shouldn't get a second chance. Otherwise, the first showdown is meaningless and the regular season is devalued. Which brings me to how this should change ..."

And he goes on to praise JD's coaching as one of the "Best Coaching jobs you may not have noticed"

"How about the Akron Zips? With no Charlie Frye at the helm, a MAC East title wasn’t seemingly on the to-go menu, but head ball coach JD Brookhart has this program in Detroit next week against Northern Illinois for a MAC championship."

I love the dance analogy. Great post! At least the Zips and NIU are at the dance with a chance to bang the "ugly stepsister" at the end of the dance. Everyone else in the MAC will be having their own little circle jerk.

There's a lot to consider when spelling out "Go Zips" on the snow covered bleachers. First, you have no idea what it looks like until you're done. Second, the spacing is hard to determine. You can use the uprights holding up the seats, but the spacing of those change as you move down the stands. Third, you need to organize a bunch of people and actually have everyone on the same page. Not a bad way to warm up over halftime though.

So which way does he want it? Overrated or the Best Coaching job you may not have noticed and a MAC East title that wasn’t seemingly on the to-go menu. To me, that's a "flip flop" and something I'd expect from the ABJ. Pete can't praise a team one day and then rip their division as overrated days later. He either needs to stick to his first article or don't write one at all. No MAC games have been played since 11/27 so why did Pete change his mind? I still think he is an Idiot.

im sure some of the players don't understand ,but i think dan said it best when some of the zipfans have been waiting 20 years for this game. that's why it's more than just one game.

Racer, I can't speak for the team, but I know one player in particular (let's just call him a close friend of mine) that understands the meaning of this game. We grew up 10 minutes from Akron and know the impact that one game can bring to a program. NIU will also understand tomorrow night. So as that clown Jim Rome says, I am out. I will see all of you in Detroit tomorrow night.

Go Zips.
