skip-zip
If everything goes as planned, it will certainly look like a scrimmage.
tbozeglav
According to our website and ESPN, no. (ESPN doesnt list exhibition games)
WinZip
It's probably easier to explain to the Millikin fan base that it was only an exhibition after we school them. On a related note, at least the pre-season polls have them ranked well within their conference... RootforRoo44
So why again are we playing a D3 school in basketball with several hundred D1 teams (many horrible as well) to choose from for a tune up game?

WinZip
Going into this year for Millikin: Starters Returning: 1 Starters Lost: 4 Letter winners Returning: 4 Letter winners Lost: 8 (and only 4 of the players lost were seniors) Maybe they've reloaded better and stronger?? (Certainly not taller) I'm so pumped for basketball that the coaches could throw 5 chairs onto the court to play against and I'd still be excited. GoZips
So why again are we playing a D3 school in basketball with several hundred D1 teams (many horrible as well) to choose from for a tune up game? Akron is playing Millipede or what ever because they were a last second (note: not last minute) fill in after negotiations to play at Michigan State fell through because neither Akron or Michigan State could shuffle existing games around to allow the Zips and Spartoons to play each other. Millipede would likely get blown out of the gym by John Carroll. So, be prepared for: 1) a school record for dunks 2) Zeke sets the all time NCAA blocked shots for a single game 3) No starter plays for more than four minutes (except Zeke who has to play nine minutes to get the blocked shot record. 4) Millipede secretly has John Carroll players dress and play to stem the carnage. feel fre to add your own prediction Note: its one dollar hot dogs and Pepsi (gack) night Did you vote for AMPI today? Dr Z
Note: its one dollar hot dogs and Pepsi (gack) nightYou would have to pay me to eat a hot dog at the JAR. The concessions are as bad as the Rubber Bowl's were. Why is it that we have to get a new venue to get better concessions? If it is true what you say about last "second", it is odd to me that nobody had a plan B if MSU fell through like you say. We should have been able to look at the schedule and say "hey, if this game falls through, what do we do" Millipede was the best they could come up with?!?!? Dave in Green
On the positive side, this pretty much guarantees that we will see more PT for the deep bench. This gives us all a chance to see some players in action who may not get much PT against tougher opponents in closer games. I'm ready for another round of watching Green, Egner, Euton, Diggs and Abreu on the floor together. Also wouldn't mind getting another peek at Oldham and Petersen. Zip Watcher
The box score should reveal the redshirt decisions for the year.
akzipper
I just look at this game as if it were a football schedule. You know when a "powerhouse" school, like you know Syracuse, blows out a crappy team at the beginning of the season, that doesn't even care about winning....like you know Akron Just a chance to get all of our players pt, and get their confidence up! Also I hope there will be no disappointments like last years Austin Piss? season opening loss...

You won't see all five newcomers out there again. this game counts as a regular season game and so you can't play them without burning their redshirts. Like ZW said, check to see who didn't get in among Euton, Egner, and Green and you know who's redshirting.
Dave in Green
Good point on the redshirt situation. Sub Oldham in for whoever ends up with the redshirt from my previous "All New Guy" lineup. Assuming McKnight plays this game, that means a little less PT for the forwards toward the end of the bench. Like ZW said, check to see who didn't get in among Euton, Egner, and Green and you know who's redshirting. My best guess would be that Abreu, Diggs and Euton play, Egner and Green sit. I just don't think there are enough minutes to go around to try and work two of Euton, Egner and Green into the rotation with McKnight, Cvetinovic, Zeke, Bardo, Diggs and McClanahan already in the mix at the 3, 4 and 5 spots. It would be doing a dis-service to both guys if we tried to play two of them and were only able to get each one 4 or 5 minutes on the floor each game. Get one of them on the floor a good 10-15 minutes a game and let the other two sit and learn for a year.
WinZip
Do you think Akron and Dambrot will approach this as if it were a scrimmage or a game? I have to think there will be a lot of experimentation with the rotations even early on. It will be quite the shock going into Dayton for some of these guys. Dambrot has said that the veteran players are much further ahead than the newcomers. If that's the case, he might rest the upperclassmen to get ready for Dayton while using this game to develop the newcomers. An extra game of film helps tremendously for getting them ready while also not spoiling anything to the opponent when Dayton prepares for us. hafner4430
This is going to be a fun game to watch. I hope McKnight gets in, he needs to play at least 1 game before Dayton. It will also be interesting to see how many games he gets suspended throughout the year now that his big brother isn;t there to keep him out of trouble.
