you am i
According to the PD, Millikin considered this game as an exhibition game. But Akron considered it a regular season game?
ddoverspike
According to the PD, Millikin considered this game as an exhibition game. But Akron considered it a regular season game? That is true and many schools including much bigger basketball powers than Univ of Akron do the same thing. It has to do with a combination of getting rid of exhibitions against Industrial teams and the different start dates of the seasons for different levels of schools. I look forward to future explanations by the Dr. You know, in past seasons we were always something of a disorganized rabble in the "pre-season". I am VERY impressed with these two games. While the opponents are not D-1 class in any way, our guys seemed to be playing as a TEAM, and showing all kinds of ability. In the past, the coach had to get them all on the same page. This year it really looks like we have some TALENT. I do not think it is impossible that we could break into the top 25 at some point this year. We do have the players. The key was avoiding the industrial teams in the preseason.

Dr Z
I really appreciate you bringing these post game press conferences to us. Great Job !!+1. Good stuff! Thank you! Thank you for posting. This was not your normal post game press conference. KD is a fans dream during interviews. The dude is coaching during the interview!?! I enjoyed listening to Zeke. I like the way he thinks about his answers before giving them. I love the interaction between coach and Zeke, and coach and Josh, you don't normally get to see something like that. My favorite KD comments "when your potential best player is so unselfish, you can't help but have a good team.". Second favorite "Josh thinks he's good." Third best "we get along", telling statement. Says more about last years team. Keep up the good work ZTV. Part 1 Part
Dave in Green
Watching the video and seeing all the expressions and interactions and hearing the inflections is so much better than reading short sports stories with a couple of selected dry quotes. This video of the post-game interview is a great addition to ZN.O.
MDZip
Thought it was great how Zeke kidded around with Dambrot when he first came into the press conference, seems like they must get along well. More and more proud Zeke selected Akron the more I see him. Also found it interesting that Dambrot said Egner had the ability to become the next Romeo Travis and that Zeke had the potential to be an All-American. Dambrot doesn't hold back with praise or criticism, gotta respect that. ZTV, thanks, it's almost like we're a real program or something. I actually purchased a Sports package on Dish TV so that I can watch the Zips play at Dayton.
ZTVSportsProducer
Hey everyone, I am Jake Kordan, this year's Producer for the ZTV Sports Report. Firstly, I want to thank those who have shown appreciation towards us for bringing you these press conferences. We've really been working hard to film as much as we can around campus news-wise for you all to enjoy. I also would like to let you all know that we will be trying to bring you as many of these post game press conferences as we can. I know for the most part we will have someone on campus all throughout our Winter Break to get these post game press conferences to you, as well as into next semester, where we already are planning on some road games to Toledo and Can't State to bring you those press conferences. If you go on to www.ztvsports.com, I actually posted our latest episode of the Sports Report on there, in which we have some of our Sports Power Talk guys preview the Men's and Women's teams. If you would like to check that out and comment on there too, that would be awesome! Thanks again for watching the videos, and watch out for more coming this year from us. We're making an effort to connect with the Zips fan base and create a better relationship with the Athletic department, so bringing you these videos is a pleasure and really helps create a better bond with our fans. See you all courtside! - Jake Kordan

What concerns me is Zeke's comments about being so unconcerned with scoring the basketball. We all knew he was a defensive minded player coming in, but at some point he is going to have to develop more of a taste for offense. He's such an advantage over every team in this conference and most teams in the country IF he ever develops that attitude of "you know what, I'm going to score on you and there is nothing you can do to stop me." Hopefully KD can coax that out of him some more.

One of my favorite qualities in watching LBJ play in high school and in Cleveland was the fact that he would try to involve his whole team in the early part of the game, and if he had to he would score. Maybe Zeke will turn into that type of player. Less practical to do it down low, but you know what I mean. I'm excited to watch him match up tonight. Recognizing that you need to score more and wanting to dominate guys on the offensive end are two entirely different things. With Zeke's height and athleticism, that jump hook that he is getting so good at and his ability to occasionally step out to 12 feet and knock down a jumper he has it in him to be a dominate offensive force. I don't want to hear, "I recognize I need to score more, but if I had it my way I would just focus on defense." What I want to hear is, "I'm going to score 20 every night and our opponent doesn't have anyone on defense who can stop me." To me that is going to be the difference between Zeke becoming an all-MAC/POTY candidate who can win us a conference championship or two and maybe get us a win or two in the tournament and Zeke becoming an All-American candidate who can take us on a deep run or two through the big dance. Had it not been a Tuesday night road game, we would have been there. 3 hour drive from the University, then getting back for classes and filming another episode... wish we could have. We'll have you this weekend though with Youngstown State for Men's and Niagara for Women's (Hopefully), along with pregame segments for Men's basketball and soccer
