Is Doug Martin done?

I think most of us who are Akron fans are wondering about this one. He is in the last year of his contract. Can't see him coming back after another losing season in Portage County.

What worrys me is that they might get lucky and find someone who knows what he is doing.

I would be surprised...Can't State is on the verge of greatness. In fact, by their standards, these are the glory days. :D

If Cant gets wise and hires Luke Fickle ... I hate to think of the carnage.

Best plan I read above is iCoach applying for and getting the job. Let's sell him on the idea

that he'd be stepping into a nearly winning program.

Frankly, Doug Martin is one heck of a lot better coach than the i-man.

Will Phil Steele continue to pick K.e.n.t. to win the MAC East after Martin is gone?

Phil actually did not pick them to win. He did say they would be a contender. He picked Temple.I am looking at his mag. He also picked Temple as the best team in the MAC. He liked WMU in the west didn't he? Had Ball State 3rd.

Unfortunately he had the Zips where they will finish.

A national search for his successor will begin immediately.

We've got your man, Can't. He's even got verifiable "coaching experience" now. Make us an offer - no reasonable off ... no offer refused!

Am I wrong in saying this guy looks like something out of a Dr. Seuss book, rather than anything that should be roaming the sideline of a college football team?

Who wants to bet that Proenza and anyone with half a brain in the UA Athletic Dept. are SHAKING IN THEIR BOOTS waiting to see who Can't State hires? They surely know by now that they've made an error of epic proportion....and also know that their cross-town rival is EXPERT at getting the upper hand in both hires and results on the field/court. (Save the arguments, lets just look at the mens/womens bball teams, as well as football & various other sports.)

The point is, Can't could hire Humpty-Dumpty and have a better head football coach than we got stuck with. Word? Word!

Everybody relax!! Maybe Martin faked his resignation to see how the team would respond.

I heard Martin was only considering resignation and was consulting a friend via text but sent it to the wrong person. He ultimately resigned to save face from such an embarrassing mistake and a seemingly inevitable outcome.

I wish iCoach would do us all a favor and fall on his own sword.
