Like a cross but not in scoring range. "cross" - a ball that that is played across the mouth of the goal, parallel with the center and end lines, to set up a shot in scoring range. "challenge" - tackling your opponent in an attempt to win the ball. "the spot" - the 12-yard marker where a penalty kick is taken. "brace" - player scores two goals in a match.
