A lot of you seem to have very short memories. Our last victory over Ohio State really did very little for the program. ;)

Well...the coach did get a trophy!

And I think GP-1's comment deserves a bit of reflection: This is not a tough one for me. Beating Can't is the answer not just intellectually, but also emotionally.

Actually, the so-called "rivalry" between Akron and Can't is 100% emotional (and political), and has no basis in reason. They are two fine neighboring institutions of higher learning. I have contributed to deserving programs in each, and will continue to. Now as to Akron beating the SuckNuts? I would give a nut for that one. They fall out of the palm trees here all the time. ;)

You should have flushed the money you gave to Can't down the toilet.

I cannot think of a single program Can't has that is as good as what UofA offers. I cannot think of a single program at Can't that comes close to our Polymer Science School. UofA has a much better engineering school. UofA has a much better business school. My brother is a doctor and he says the best nurses around are UofA graduates. UofA has the nationally known Ray C. Bliss Institute. UofA yearly produces the highest percentage of first time bar sitters that pass the exam on the first try. I will give it to Can't that they have a first rate fashion museum  .

Let me say again. The only thing Can't is known for is the unfortunate matter that happened in the 1970s. That's pathetic. I have no respect for the president of Can't. I have no respect for the students at Can't. I have no respect for the sports programs at Can't. I have no respect for the faculty at Can't. I have no respect for the janitors who clean the buildings at Can't. They could bulldoze the whole place as far as I'm concerned. If Portage County went back to being a swamp, nobody would miss it.

A friend of mine went to law school @ UA. Upon graduation he received the highest score in the state of Ohio when he took the bar exam. He is very intelligent, highly motivated and, needless to say, now makes a very good living.

I also have an acquaintance who went to Can't, studied journalism, and is now a pizza delivery person - I'd say pizza delivery "boy" but he's almost 40!!!

:screwks:

 LMFAO! And, as Z.I.P. stated: the so-called "rivalry" between Akron and Can't is 100% emotional (and political), and has no basis in reason. I rest my case. :D

The worst Zips teams beat K.e.n.t 8 out of 10 football seasons.Pretty much any of the top 100 D-1A...and Top 50 1-AA programs can beat K.e.n.t's football team 5 consecutive times. It isn't that big an accomplishment.

Beating Ohio State in football is a historic event. Silencing 105,000 people is a lot more impressive than silencing 10,500 K.e.n.t fans.

There's no decision to be made - You take a shock the world win over Ohio State any day of the week.

Would an Appalacian State fan trade their win against Michigan for anything? No.

Would I trade 5 K.e.n.t basketball wins for one over Ohio State? I probably wouldn't. Beating K.e.n.t 5 consecutive times is just as difficult as beating Ohio State once. Plus the bragging rights carry more weight...it would kill K.e.n.t Fan to lose to Akron 5-in-a-row. K.e.n.t Fan doesn't care about football.

Anything? I would have to think App State might trade a win over a pathetic Mich team for a I-AA championship?! Thing is App State is usually good enough to compete for the championship. You saw what good it did for Akron to beat NC State in 06. If you are beating Can't consistently from here on out it might mean you are making some progress in being competetive in the MAC. Tell me if you would rather beat OSU once or compete in the MAC year in and year out.

Again, we have pretty well handled Can't for the better part of the last 8 years. It has done absolutely nothing to make us more competitive in the MAC. Can't is not a measuring stick for the rest of the MAC, they are a whipping post. Unfortunately we've fallen to their level and probably below that. If beating Can't is our only focus over the next five years our program is going to remain absolutely pathetic. We will be a 2-10, 3-9 kind of team every year. Our sights have to be set a lot higher than that. Taking one from OSU may be a little unrealistic, but as others in this thread have said, the program that beats OSU once is certainly not going to drop 5 in a row to Can't State.
