Zipmeister
Based on THIS, I predict Fairfield LB/S James Turner will be iCoach's 1st commit of the 2012 class.Edit: the link isn't working, but it's a Cincinnati blog that says he's visiting UA this Thursday.Try this in your address bar:http://cincinnati.com/blogs/preps/2011/06/...r-james-turner/If he can just lose a couple of inches he will be perfect for us at cornerback. The one I was trying to post made specific mention of a visit this Thursday. OK, I reposted the link below and it now appears to be working.Link

Another small, undersized LB (5'11", 205). Same old, same old. If he can play SS, that's a diiferent situation.

SEC schools thrive by playing undersized DE's and LB's that can RUN. 5'11 is not too small. 205 turns into 215 in no time once they get into the strength and conditioning program.Brian Rolle was a 5'10 and 202 pound recruit coming out of high school and that kid was a human missile on the football field in college. If they are good enough to play LB they go to a big time school not Akron. We have gotten killed the last several years by undersized LB's who give up too much yardage after contact and can't bring any pressure when they blitz. None of them have been able to knock a MAC starting TB or FB backwards. They get run over and hold on to bring the runner down after 3-5 yds. Hoping this recruit can take the quality of our LB's to a higher level is wishful thinking. A 1-11 team doesn't get the cream of the recruiting crop. I'm longing for the day when the best consider Akron. Keep the hope coming Zip01. We both want the best for our football program.

ZachTheZip
Heard a tip that Akron received a commitment a few days ago from 6'0" 194lb HB Matt McDonald from Vermilion, OH. Unfortunately, I have no way to confirm this. He's not listed on any recruiting site, not even ScoutingOhio.
johnnyzip84
New offer: QB Steve Franco Maybe the floodgates have started to open? Franco commits. Apparently he'll be the only QB in this class which makes sense given the numbers there on the current roster.

Why else would he have considered Akron of all places? Damn lost a 5'8" running back/wide receiver to Waldorf. We could have converted him into a corner-back. He probably received a general letter from the coaching staff where they gave him information on the school, program, etc.... I got a ton of these when I was in high school. They didn't all turn into offers, but they made you look into the school just in case.

Since Waldorf is a Junior College (and one which has provided a few players for UA in the past), isn't it possible that grades (or eligibility in general) are an issue here? Whatever the case, I'm not sure I'm too disappointed by this.
UA Fan
He may not have played much here (unless we couldn't get any shorter DB's) but I figure he would have been a shoo-in for the MAC all-name team
