Boston College schedule rumor?

I found this blog last week because I read a rumor that BC had been scheduled for a home game next year at UA. BC played at Ball State last season. Does anyone know anything about this?

I believe there was a post on this about 2-3 weeks ago but I'm too lazy to go look it up. From what I remember there is nothing official yet but it is a pretty good possibility.

I would hope this doesn't happen. BC looked really good last night and they really have some top tier players playing for them. Remember, players win games and BC has much better players than we do. BC will destroy any team in the MAC next year at any MAC stadium.

I couldn't agree more. Even though we won the MAC. Remember, it is still the MAC.We have a bright future, but the future is still the future.

Boise State nearly beat BC on Boise's home field. Boise State...not Penn State, not Ohio State, not Florida State...B-O-I-S-E STATE. I remember similar "we're going to lose 65-0" cries when we played Virginia Tech at the Rubber Bowl several years ago. We almost beat them.If Boise State can take BC down to the game's final play on their home field, the Zips could do as well or better in 2006. We could certainly also do worse too...but that is the same regardless of any team we'd play.

Boise State destroyed a MAC school, I just can't remember who it was, this season in Boise. BC is a good team this year and they are going to be even better next season. I'm fearful the MAC is on the decline after the Leftwich and Roethlisberger years and nobody realizes it yet. Most people are drinking the leftover punch from Roethlisberger's senior year when the MAC did very well nationally. Bringing in a team like Temple actually makes the conference worse, not better. We'll see if the MAC can improve the nonconference performance next season. It wasn't very impressive this season.

BC is a perfect home opener and very winnable game. They played at Ball State in 2004 and won by a TD. Ball State was not a MAC power that year. Yes Boise State did hammer BG this year at Boise. But BC will be a top 20-30 type team. I have no doubt that at home that is a winnable game for Akron.

national respect. pure and simple. we compete against teams like BC and Penn State for recruits and regional recognition. There would be nothing better for our program this year than if we have good showings and prove on a national stage that we are headed in the right direction. That is why we play big-time teams; not becasue we think we will always win them, but we use them as a measuring stick for our program, and hope to squeek one out here and there. As a recruit, being able to play 2 top 25 teams in the same year, BC, Penn State, maybe even in back-to-back weeks is huge.

We HAVE to schedule BCS teams, home or away, to keep progressing. Huge impact on recruiting. Huge impact on fan interest and excitement, particularly WHEN we pull the upset win (and we will do that). Given that we are going to do those games away for the pay day, I would much rather have some of those games at home. UA will draw crowds for big name teams-- and big name teams visiting will drive local media interest far more than playing OU or Eastern Michigan. A game against a BCS team, properly marketed, will draw 20K+. And if UA is on a multi-year roll and drawing 15K consistently for MAC games, I bet that game draws 30K.The point is that we need to have a game against BC-quality teams every year at home. Even if we get blown out, it is better than pounding Howard or Capital or something. But I don't think we get blown out in most cases. I think we are in the games, turning heads, changing minds, driving excitement and interest.
