UAZip0510
Does anyone else think Darryl Roberts would be a great guy to keep around the program? I don't know what his future plans are, but he was one of our most underrated players the last few years. Intelligent player, strong leader, good fundamentals...I would love to see him become a GA and eventually an assistant coach, similar to the path Rick McFadden has taken with the team. He would be an excellent mentor for Alex Abreu, Deji Ibatayo, and Blake Justice as well. Thoughts?

UA Fan
Would it be a little strange to be coached by someone that you previously played with? Mentor is probably a good role if it means being a 'buffer' between players and coaches. I guess I don't know what all GA's do...maybe more gofering than coaching(?) Valpo Zip
I love D-rob as much if not more than the next giy but I think we have enough guard coaches. We need a big giys coach. Not that i am suggesting Bardo but just saying.

If Bardo is coaching Zeke I won't ever come to another game lol I wouldn't mind Bardo teaching Zeke how to be aggressive and throw his body around a bit. And if Zeke played with half the heart Bardo did, he would average a double-double and around six blocks a game to go with. Not saying Zeke doesn't play hard, but he definitely could put out more effort.
Dave in Green
Zeke's game does not lack for effort. For example, he puts tremendous effort into trying to block every single shot, even those he's not likely to reach. He tries so hard so often that he physically exhausts himself. Zeke's lack of consistent effectiveness is more related to focus and decision making. He needs to focus on the most important elements of the game and shrug off things of less importance, which are just distractions. He needs to understand where his efforts will most likely be rewarded and where they will most likely just waste energy. It's a learning process, and he continues to improve in these areas. I expect him to be better next season, and better yet as a senior.

It's not that unusual as you might think. Just down the road, Jordan Mincy is on Geno Ford's staff as an assistant coach. You may remember him as the guy that was more willing to start a major fight rather than restraining the K.S.U players at the end of the tourney final. David Kool is also on Steve Hawkins' staff at Western Mich. Plenty of others as well.
