dreal1scout
As it turns out for the Zips, this may be the worst time to catch OSU. They will have all the pent up energy of the off season and will want to come out to prove something against an inferior opponent. OSU will find it real level 3-4 games into the season.I've heard/read a lot of Zip fans say/write this, and I have even thought it myself. BUT a quick turnover, 3 and out, some kind of score on them should take all that "pent up energy" away from them. Momentum is crazy in football. He!!, it might even work in our favor if something positive happens for us early, they might start questioning themselves if they can win without the vest and the suspended kids. Granted, there is probably about a single digit percentage of this happening, but it could. It WILL
Buckzip
Here is how the game goes. OSU prepares for Nicely at QB. He starts and OSU d-ends get excited as they sack Nicely 3 times in a row. Now OSU is cocky and believes Akron can't move on them.Clayton gets inserted. Now the OSU d-ends have a strong angle of pursuit to the QB but Clayton sidesteps and runs for huge yardage. Now knowing that Akron has a mobile QB the OSU defense decides to focus on stopping the run. The OSU defense with 3 new LB's and 2 new corners starting is inexperienced and baffled by the switch at QB allowing Akron to move the ball and score. On defense, Mike Adams being suspended leaves a gaping hole at left tackle for OSU. Norwell is unable to contain Hazime and true Freshman Braxton Miller gets butterfingers and is nervous. This causes him to throw some interceptions and fumble the ball away on QB runs. With OSU clingling to a 2 point lead late in the game, OSU is forced to punt. The punt is blocked, and after watching the Sugar bowl game last year, the Akron defender realizes he can pick up the blocked punt and returns it to the 5 yard line. Akron runs it into the strong OSU d-line 3 times for no gain. Then, realizing that Igor is no longer the kicker, Coach I decides to go for the field goal. The FG team comes in and the kick is..............

K92
My previous post is not meant to simply respond to Trimmy's statement about recruiting. I like Trimmy10 and I like reading his posts. I am frustrated. I am frustrated with the football team that 25 years into the transition from I-AA is still experiencing growing pains. South Florida started from SCRATCH in 1997. That is a painful comparison. I am as pissed off as anybody about our situation. I am tired of the constant process of rebuilding. I realize that Rob Ianello's performance so far is lackluster. Makes a poor performance worse when you have no rapport with the fan base, either. Rob hasn't done much to endear himself to the fan through his personality which digs his hole a little deeper as well. But one thing I do hope he realizes is that it is imperative that the Zips must beat Can't. A mediocre or even bad Zips team that beats Can't is night and day different from one that doesn't. There is absolutely no excuse to lose to them. There is no excuse for last year's loss. To me, the 0-1 record against a shitty Can't team is more upsetting than the 1-11 overall. Losing to them at home this year is not going to cut it. Rob better realize how much a victory in that game will gain him and how much a loss will damn him. Beating them should be a given.Who says that he hasnt done a hell of a job as a recruiter? Look at some of the youth that has been added to this team and the promise that they have shown already...1. Jawon Chisholm - looks like he has all-mac talent2. Anthony Holmes - Going to be a very solid db...all mac potential3. Tyler Williams - Is going to be the most explosive player the zips have had in over a decade.4. Antoine Russell - Showed flashes as a true freshman and I think he will be much improved this year.5. Nick Rossi - a top 10 ILB recruit in the nation.6. Keith Sconiers - Another highly touted receiver that looks like the real deal.7. Zack D'Orazio - Another solid athlete that looked damn good in the spring for being a freshman.8. Nico Caponi - Solid D line player as a freshman and played well this spring.9. John Griggs - His video looks like he is a long, lean and explosive pass rusher unlike we have seen at UA in a while.10. Andrew Bohan - Solid and well rated OL that played well in both of the post season all star games against very high talent.11. Clayton Moore - SEC talent that is very intriguing and adds much needed depth to the position.12. Kyle Pohl - Another highly touted young QB that looked the part in the All Star game. While we aren't sure how all of these guys will end up, I have a lot of hope compared to many of the other classes. I see this young talent infusion helping us win a few games this year. Once recruits see the program going in the right direction the sky is the limits. I am excited.8 of those guys haven't played a single down in a college game. According to your list, only four players that Ianello has recruited to the Zips have contributed in a meaningful way despite the team being supposedly so devoid of talent when he took over that you would think that every single incoming freshman would have earned a starting spot. Thanks captain negative. Do you really want me to write a 30 player list? I could have added freshman from last year like ShelDon Miller, Austin Bailey, Jamar Williams or Richard Hall, but I chose to keep the list short and sweet to the ones that I think have the highest ceiling. Is Hall still on the team?No idea. I asked about this on another thread.I saw Richard on campus the summer and spoke with him briefly. Seems like he is on the team.Got gasoline on the way home this evening and picked up the "Official 2011 Ohio State Gridiron Guide", complements of Marathon. Richard Hall is listed on the Zips roster. I foresee it being a "Restoring Buckeye Pride™" puke story down there for the first game back post-controversy. I don't need to go into a hostile, defensive atmosphere where the crowd will be foaming at the mouth for a beat down of the Zips so they can somehow feel good about themselves again. That fraud is the BCS conferences OOC schedules and their playing non-BCS schools in order to pad their wins/pockets. People who pay to go to these games are part of the problem in college football.
