Since it's hot and muggy out, I thought, why not an off the wall question. So here is what I'm pondering. Who would win a game at a neutral site. The 2011 US Women's National Team or Akron's mighty 2010 men's champions?

No question Akron. Even Akron's yet to be determined 2011 team would win. There is a huge difference of speed and strength between college age males and women. I would say it wouldn't be close. Maybe in 10 matches they might be able to draw us once.

The USWNT actually knows how to execute plays and play possession. That puts them ahead of about 85% of college soccer teams by default. They would probably be ranked around #20 to #15 in the polls. That said, the Zips would win handily.

That's exactly what I was thinking. THey would be better than most teams, because of style of play and possession. However, that's exactly what Akron excels at equalizing out that factor. Then we'd win based on size and athleticism advantages over the women.

I will give RACER his props for answering the question here. How many 2010 Zips are in the MLS? How many women's players are in the MLS? Do you think, if there was a woman who could compete at the MLS level, that a team would draft her?Dr. Z's original question - "Could an elite boys HS team, or Prep Academy team, beat the US Woman's World Cup Team?" is more debatable. More controversial, but more debatable.

I vote for "the one and only" Akron's mighty 2010 men's champions :)
