 Thats a lot of words GoZips. Was Q not a sub for McClanahan all of last season? And is McClanahan not the 2 guard? I look forward to more debates with you in the future. I'll save all my talk until then.
That may of been true, but with Walsh, Green, Justice(probably will be redshirted), Gilliam, and could throw Petersen in there for a few minutes, there's a lot of players that can play the 2 guard.

@GoZipsI love your analysis but you sometimes come across a little personal. I think the reason is you try to write like you talk...more conversational. The problem with that sometimes is that it can be misinterpreted. IMO...the problem with your post is when you wrote "You sir". It comes off as preaching and talking down. You may have meant it in another way...but I thought it was inappropriate. You are not the only one who does this though...including myself. Using sarcasm plays OK in person but often comes off wrong in the written word. Most sarcastic posts just start pissing matches here and that may not have been the original intention. I will give you credit though...you are one of the few that will apologize. Kudos to you.@ I Speak the Truth. Most posters here are BIG fans of the Zips. They only care that the team represents the school well (not all care about this) and they are successful on the court/field/pitch. Family have all of those motivations plus at least one other...they want to see their family member develop. They also probably know more about the effort and issues that are going on as well. So...you will understandably be more sensitive. I am glad you outed yourself as a family member because people here should also be sensitive to the fact you are family. Keep in mind that most here believe that Q is one of our core players and probably the #1 option on the offensive end of the court (at least out of the gate...we will see if others step up). With this team...he will be pushed hard this year. And that is a GOOD thing. Competition will help him (and other Zips) improve. Welcome to Zip Nation and I hope Q makes everyone proud.Go Zips!!! Go Q!!!

I am Q's GodFather if you must know.
It's really great to have you and other player family members contributing to ZN.O. It's definitely understood why you have a special interest in Q. He's a special player with great potential. It's rare when Coach Dambrot states publicly that one of his players has NBA potential, and he has said that about Q. So we're all hoping Q fully realizes that potential at UA and goes on to represent the Zips in the NBA.You should be aware that in the past there have been many great, enthusiastic player family members who have posted here, and the rest of us Zips basketball fans have really enjoyed the conversation. There has also been at least one, shall we say, slightly annoying family member whose main contributions were to lobby incessantly for their relative to get more playing time. While understandable, it really didn't contribute a lot to the discussion here. You are obviously keenly aware by now that some Zips fans are passionate about their basketball team, and may come across as somewhat blunt in their assessments of player and team performance. That's true in every sports forum I've visited, so nothing new here. When you perceive that someone here is being a little harsh on Q, I hope you will understand that it is because we all want the best for Q and the whole team. Zips fans can be free in both their praise and criticism of the players, and we tend to hold the better players to a higher standard. So please don't take offense at any legitimate criticism of Q. If you see a post that goes over the top and turns into a personal attack, just use the Report button to report it to the moderators and let them handle it.Looking forward to your comments during the upcoming basketball season.

Q has one important thing that all the new guys do not. He has proven performance during big games. I want him out on the floor when the game matters most.

KD loves Q. He gives Q the ball in isolation & tells everyone to clear out. I don't think I've ever seen that from KD before.

KD realizes what he has with Q. And we saw it more and more as the season progressed last year, even in critical situations. It was because he's one of the few guys we've had in the program in the last several years with the ability to take someone to the rim, one on one. And with one year of experience on top of those raw skills, I see him as our best offensive weapon this year.

Another MAC Pre-Season Review that speaks positive of this year's Zips -- naming them MAC Champions.MAC Preview
lol @the section about Toledo
you mean this part?
Although the MAC appears to be a three-team race this year, the youth of the conference means that there will likely be some significant shake-ups over the next two or three seasons. It also means that on any given night one of the middle-tier teams could knock off one of the top three teams and then get embarrassed a few nights later (unless they are playing Toledo).

Some opponents talking about the Zips already.Duquesne is split on whether they'll be able to beat us. Seem to think that we're a slow, lumbering half-court team.
Slow, lumbering half-court team is not a totally inaccurate description of the deliberate style the Zips have played in recent years. With the current roster, I suspect that's about to change. But it will take time for the Zips to earn a rep as a good running team.

@ Gozips, When do expect the mens team to practice on Saturday? I'd like to go and get a peek of the team... Love watching KD work too
FYI...If you go, make sure that you cover the ears of your young children. KD was is rare form last weekend using his Motivational Language... :)

Women's basketball is holding a coaches' clinic on saturday. Where the coaches can watch practice from 9-11:30, and then ask Coach Kest and the assistant coaches questions from 11:30-12:00 on the court. I'm sure that the practice is open to more than just coaches to watch...

I, as an Akron Zips fan care...just saying in case anyone know of any local coaches that are interested in checking this out on saturday. Just figured you wanted to get to know what the women's basketball players' names are so that you can at least ACT like you care when they play Notre Dame to start the season, beat Florida State at home, and win the MAC Championship this year...

I do, and will be attending. As a youth basketball coach, I will be soaking it up, and I am sure I am not the only one. :champs:

i dont care because i am an akron zip fan. the program has gone nowhere and i would bet it holds our mens team back financially speaking. just like football to soccer or our track sports. besides, if you all cared, then you would be sure to show up so my sisters freshman squad doesnt beat the womens games in attendance. or maybe you are the dozen or so non parents to be there.
