Doug Snyder
I do like the EMU announcers. Same here. One guy sounds like "Vinnie" on Orange County Choppers. My guess is...that you learn to describe game action with humility when working for schools like EMU and Akron.
Kangaroo Craig
I got lambasted on this board earlier in the week for predicting EMU to win by a score similar to this one. Man, I sure would have loved to have been wrong on that prediction. How many years left on coach I's contract? Can the school afford to fire him with years left on the deal? That was the second easiest game on the schedule. Barring an upset, I don't see how they win again this year. Someone suggested that we could beat Buffalo. That's a possibility, but they are certainly better than we are right now.
zip403
Sorry folks Ianello and his team failed the second big test of the year. They lost to a team that has perenially been the worst if not one of the worst teams in DI. The mistakes indicate a team that is not prepared by the coaching staff. The fact that the defense gave up 200+ on the ground against a team that is 1 dimensional in that regard means there has been no progress there. The Zips got 100+ yards on the ground but were still woeful in the passing game. Ianello keeps talking about play action. His QB can't run play action because teams know he can't throw the ball consistently down field. Moore's best play was when HE caught a TD pass. Thats pathetic. Ianello can't get him in a situation to succeed. Moore can not play effectively in this offense they way the coaching staff has it configured. Better hope FIU is uninterested next week. Otherwise its a blowout at home. WAIT,,,your saying RI cant get CM8 into a situation he could suceed in.. Looks like it WASNT NICELYS fault after all for the bad season in 2010,, Cant pin this TERRIBLE season on PN8,, RI tried to by giving the controls to CM8 but it backfired. Lets Get Nicely in there at QB and put Moore at receiver. At least CM8 CAN catch it when thrown to
skip-zip
I couldn't ignore this fact while reading the game story in the paper yesterday, and can't believe nobody else caught this....... If the information is correct, it looks like the RB that was running all over us was their THIRD STRING running back. Their first 2 guys were out. OUCH I've thought that we've been a very poor tackling team for several years, but if EMU has a 3rd string RB that can pile up those kind of numbers, it might be a pretty bad sign for the kind of point totals we are going to need to pile up in order to win any more games this year. And whenever someone is running like that against you, it also limits your possessions, with an offense that's clearly struggling to make plays consistently enough to sustain drives. BirdZip
I was too busy marvelling at the fact that two of their running backs were Greene and White.

If the information is correct, it looks like the RB that was running all over us was their THIRD STRING running back. Their first 2 guys were out. OUCH Why is that a shocker? VMI (terrible 1-AA team) running backs averaged 5 yard/carry against us. Ohio State's 4th and 5th stringers were pushing 100 yards against the Zips. Temple and Cincinnati's RB's were in sweat pants in the second half of our games. Our run defense is terrible.

I wonder if Vida Blue or Golden Richards have any kids the Zips can recruit?

Not that this would make a big difference, but I noticed in the box score that Bre Ford didn't play on Saturday. I have enjoyed watching him in run support. Did anyone else notice during the VMI game when it looked like he may have broken his own helmet on a hit? Hopefully he's back on Saturday. That pattern has been repeating itself for years. I just think the problem becomes even more alarming when it comes from one of the worst teams in the league while using their #3 running back. Unfortunately, the ability to run-tackle can't correct itself overnight. The " we need to get better at it" speech from the coach won't solve anything until we get some guys in here that can tackle. Apparently, that's not going to happen according to the latest depth chart. Maybe Bre is injured. I'll try to see if iCoach makes any comment tonight. I see Kasparek is also off of the depth chart.....injury here too? Fox is listed as the starting PK for both kickoffs and field goals/extra points. Those were the changes that stood out to me. Were our kickoffs any better than they were against VMI? anything kicking related was, relatively speaking, a wash due to the high winds they had in Ypsilanti this past weekend. Thats not to say that kicking wasnt great but it was hard to judge when there was a strong wind blowing from the north to the south...
