BirdZip
I'd jump on Luke in a heartbeat! IF the Zips look for a new coach, I would at least interview him. Winning at Akron isn't easy. LF at least coached at Akron and understands the difficulties. IMO, the understanding is a huge benefit for any coach coming to Akron. If the coach knows what he is facing, he can deal with it. I don't think Coach I had any idea coming here what he was getting himself into. Can't brought in a no name assistant with no head coaching experience and only a couple of years as coordinator at Oberlin of all places. He is 5-6 with one game to go. That is a miracle turnaround at Can't. LF and a lot of other guys could do the same thing at Akron. As a disclaimer, LF is personal friends with a brother of mine and gives him tickets to OSU games. He would do just fine at Akron. I read on a lot of blogs, after OSU loses...never after a win, he looks like a deer in headlights. Those are just comments by people who don't know what else to say so they all become like dogs barking. It's just noise. I'm not saying Akron should hire him just to hire him, but I would say he is good enough for the MAC and turning around a program like Akron. More than anything, I'm against defensive coaches being head coaches in the MAC. It could be LF or Joe Blow Coordinator. Who would do just fine at Akron; LF or your brother? As a disclaimer, I don't know the difference between a personal friend and a friend either. A personal relationship is one that is not associated with your job or public life. If you nitpick in regular life the way you do on this forum, it is not surprising to me that you do not know what a personal friend is. You have done gone and hurt my feelings, but at least now I know the difference between a personal friend and a friend and for that I thank you. Do you think he meant his brother of LF? Sergeant Zip
I work in Marlington & there are 3 D-1 players on this years' team - 2 seniors, 1 junior. One senior is going to Michigan State, 1 is going to Tennessee and the junior has already committed to Michigan. Word on the street was none of them liked Fickell & Co. very much. Thought they were too pushy to get commitments and downright arrogant/mean-spirited when the kids were looking @ other schools. Just a rumor, but I'm sure there's some fire here. From everything I have ever heard it is the recruits and players love Fick. He is just not a very good coach right now. Pittman is 1 guy down there that will probably change his mind back when UM is announced as HC. Strobel is over rated and was afraid of sanctions. Dunn may change against OSU when UM is announced as HC. UM doesn't use big backs. Luke is a great recruiter. His problem lies in experience and handling pressure. I would pass on Luke right now. Se'Von Pittman changes his mind again, just maybe not willingly. Louisville mentioned as a destination.
johnnyzip84
This is a little weird, but I nominated BOTH of these guys just a few years ago and they're still right where they were, perhaps even more successful than before. Craig Bohl Mark Farley The trouble with either of them is that they're both probably unwilling to leave unless it's a relatively high-profile FBS program. They're probably not making too much less than Ianello as it is. Bump. This is in no way to be taken as a swipe on TB. I believe he can turn the Zips around. I am merely wanting to express my admiration for the job Craig Bohl continues to do at NDSU. I am watching them play solidy at K-State on Fox Sports, taking an early 7-0 lead. The Bison is 6-3 in their last 9 FBS games. Think about that.
Dave in Green
Wow. Bison rally from 2 TDs down to beat defending Big 12 champ K-State 24-21 in front of the second largest crowd in K-State history.

Bison rally from 2 TDs down to beat defending Big 12 champ K-State 24-21 in front of the second largest crowd in K-State history. Why do FBS schools continue to schedule these guys? NDSU is now 7-3 all-time against the FBS, with 2 of the 3 losses by 1 and 4 points. The MAC (Ball St and CMU) learned early on to stay away. Perhaps now the only way NDSU will get to play FBS teams is to move on up. I'm surprised I have't heard much talk along those lines. People always speculate who the next Boise St could be. Why not the Bison? Craig Bohl doesn't seem too interested in going anywhere else and he had a solid, well supported program that continues to get better in an area of the country that is experiencing considerable economic and population growth. akzipper
I really hope we don't lose the JMU. They also have beaten FBS teams before. I remember them beating a ranked VT team a few years ago. Watching this weeks games, I don't think there's any team that played worse than our Zips. James Madison will not only beat Akron, but they will beat the Zips by 2 or more touchdowns.
