mes102
The scandal is him being our head football coach...WE ARE THE VICTIMS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'VE HAD ENOUGH OF HIM...You know something isn't right if our players aren't even motivated to play this game...At least Brookhart knew how to play the big schools and Can't State...this "___________" doesn't even know how to beat a DI-AA SCHOOL!!!!!!!! IF Ianello isn't fired by the end of this season, I'm going to start chanting for Tom's departure as well....ENOUGH ALREADY...Can't's only going to get better, and we're only going to get worse... Just wish there was a way that Ianello can be part of a scandal that actually violates ethics or NCAA regulations... ... ... ...
Kangaroo Craig
I gave up on him a long time ago. Worst program in FBS. I believe he has a 3 yr contract. I doubt the University will fire him because they do not want to pay two salaries at once. That means we'll have to endure one more year of this garbage before we can hopefully get a coach who has at least somewhat of an idea of what it takes to build a winning program. I agree with getting rid of Wistricill as well. Ianello was the one key hire by Tom, and he is an utter failure. I do not want to see Wistricill as part of the process to hire Ianello's replacement next year for fear that we will just get a repeat of Coach I. As an alumni, I am embarrassed by this. I feel sorry for all of the kids on scholarship. I'll bet many of them now wished that they had went elsewhere. Its sad that this program cannot even compete in the crappy MAC conference. Pathetic! RACER
the bad part of all this is that even most of the hardcore fans are tired of complaining.the real truth is most people could care less about akron football anymore.they can keep him for another three years if they want to.nobody will show up to the games anymore except the band ,and parents. i thought it would be hard to completely destroy the f-ball team.it's pretty much done. even with the right coach what player would want to come here now? we have a brand new stadium that will sit empty next year unless DR.P does something.i don't see the a.d. doing anything to RI,but maybe im wrong. akronzips71
The WORST part is that even when we do get rid of him, it will still take several years to recruit and build a winning team. So I think we are sentenced to another 3 or more years of this.
GoZips
As we suffer this gawd awful beat down of Akron football I just wonder where the failure to perform portion of Robbie's contract is hidden. Seems to me that a few years back Porenza stipulated that any coach that finishes last in their sport gets sacked. It is high time to invoke this clause. And, all future major sport contracts need a two and done clause if the coach can not deliver. There is no excuse to hold the University to paying a buffoon for five years while every sports fan in America laughs at our dumb ass administrators. You reading this Uncle Tom? Zippy49
Inanello's BIGGEST problem is that because of his lack of football acumen, he does not have the respect of the players. I am told, not one of them! He is awful!
Captain Kangaroo
Inanello's BIGGEST problem is that because of his lack of football acumen, he does not have the respect of the players. The lack of football acumen is certainly not helping his relationship with the fans either.

So I think we are sentenced to another 3 or more years of this. Unless we could some how convince a big name coach to come in here, we will be losing immediately. Obviously someone who has won in the past but just let go at their school, Tressel? I'm not saying it will ever happen, but that is the only way. If anyone hears TW talk about football his first topic is grades. I understand this is the most important part, but all he says is we're winning off the field and we got a plan in place and progressing to win on the field. Could be just me but I see ZERO progress. Dave in Green
Vince Lombardi. Dig up his grave and grab some DNA. Take it to Korea and have him cloned. Bring the clone back to Akron and put him in charge of UA football. Easy peasy.

The right guy - even if we have never heard of him - could turn this thing around in a couple of years. But after this debacle, I have very little confidence in TW's ability to make the hiring decision. If his next football hire turned out to be a good decision, it would be an accident. ZachTheZip
The only person out there who could turn things around overnight would be Tressel. There's simply nobody else out there who could bring in a complete recruiting class in his first year that's better than anybody else in the MAC. Nobody else that would cause tickets to sell out with minimal marketing effort. Nobody else that would bring in media coverage like we were a top 25 team before he ever coaches a single practice. Anybody else and we'll have to wait at least two years before we are good enough to challenge for the MAC East. Still, if we hire a good coach we'll see progress after the very first year. If we don't, then we're in for another long, horrible time.
