GoZips Posted November 14, 2011 Report Posted November 14, 2011 I especially like that he is living up to his profession to play great defense. Of course, this was not mentioned, but, if you watched him you saw it. Proof: two steals. Q is six-seven; mites make steals, not tall forwards. That is good defensive pressure. Better still was watching him run the point and make excellent decisions. Quincy is much more than a shooter. Excellent all round player. More awards to follow. Quote
GP1 Posted November 14, 2011 Report Posted November 14, 2011 One of my all time favorite Zips football players was Brett Biggs. I find it funny I like Diggs so much. Maybe there is something to a name..... Quote
Zip Watcher Posted November 14, 2011 Report Posted November 14, 2011 Since you were in town, did you get to the JAR for the Hiram game? Quote
GP1 Posted November 14, 2011 Report Posted November 14, 2011 Since you were in town, did you get to the JAR for the Hiram game? No. I will not attend rent-a-win games. Quote
Dave in Green Posted November 14, 2011 Report Posted November 14, 2011 @GP1, was this your only chance of the season to actually see the Zips play live, or will you be able to catch one of their other games? Quote

I don't anticipate seeing them this year during the regular season or MAC Tournament. However, when they make the NCAA Tournament, and if it is close, I would probably go. I may have gone this week if my wife and I weren't trying to squeeze the holiday season into three days. Quote

Dave in Green Posted November 14, 2011 Report Posted November 14, 2011 @GP1, I'm relieved to hear there was a real reason to miss the Zips basketball game other than a refusal to attend any "rent-a-win games." What with your unusual aversion to anything involving a "building process," my next question was going to be whether you avoided stepping on lines and cracks while walking down the sidewalk. But it's clear to me now that you're more normal than what some (but not all) of your posts may suggest. Quote

You guys had your money stolen from you. Quote

The Hip Zip Posted November 15, 2011 Report Posted November 15, 2011 The thing I love about Q is how he finishes. He mad a couple of real ankle breakers on MSU defenders driving one on one. Quote

Good point. Watching the of games on TV it struck me that rarely did you see a player finish strong to the basket. Quincy goes to the basket without hesitation. Quote
Dave in Green Posted November 15, 2011 Report Posted November 15, 2011 @GP1, I was one of the few hardcore Zips fans who did go to some of the team's open practices. There was no charge, but I wouldn't have felt bad about paying admission if required. I'm a basketball junkie. I like to watch good players, period. The Zips have a lot of good players this season who are fun to watch regardless of the level of competition they're going up against. I understand how more casual basketball fans might pass on a lower level game. Remember that this game was part of the 2K Sports Classic that brings together high majors, mid majors and lower division teams. Hiram is not even the lowest level team in the tournament. Indiana-Kokomo, which plays Valparaiso and UDC, is in its first season of basketball. They hope to be accepted into the NAIA next season, but aren't in any division this season. So the Zips home game against Hiram was part of the package that allowed the Zips to meet and beat Mississippi State on national television. I'd call that a good tradeoff even if some casual Zips basketball fans didn't think the Hiram game was worth attending. Quote

PM me next time you are in town and I will give you the $10.00 so you won't feel cheated. I don't think anyone there felt cheated or that the UofA stole their money. Quote
