akronzips71
Watching the game, these are both quality teams that will be hard to beat. The "Turk" who plays for WVU is a MONSTER. Like Nik on steroids. He always seems to be in position for the rebound. This will be on e huge test for Zeke. And they are both fast like us. Should be great games. bUAkronG
I am actually unimpressed the Can't so far. I know it's an early game but they can't be shooting more than 30% through the ten minutes of the first half. There is no balance to their game. They pound the ball inside with little to no perimeter shooting. I've only seem them attempt one 3 and it was a miss. And as I typed that last sentence they hit a three. Both teams have suspect interior defense, though. They're just not hitting shots. Also, I've heard three references to Akron so far.
WinZip
WVU 16 Can't State 15 with nine minutes left in the first. Both teams look very athletic and will be fun matchups to watch.
bandzip
With 7:50 left in the first half we get the first reference to Akron and Can't being only 14 miles apart.
WinZip
Justin Greene looks strong. The flashers core will be tough especially if they keep improving. Thankfully they don't have a Zeke.

The "Turk" is 6'9" and will have problems with Zeke's length and speed. Renaldo Sidney was a little bigger. Challenging yes but the big guy can handle it. Zeke has to attack him because he is prone to foul. Can't does not seem to have a guy that can hit the 3 plus they do not rebound well. WVU lacks offense. A lot of their baskets come on put backs and offensive rebounding. Both team are BEATABLE!!.

ZachTheZip
So who are we pulling for? I don't see a wrong answer in this one... Though K E N T is never the right answer... Technically, a Can't win would help us more than a WVU win because we play Can't at least two times and the rest of the MAC also plays them so they would boost the RPI of half our schedule. But at the same time, Wouldn't you rather see Can't lose and then us go down to Morgantown and win?
Dave in Green
I want WVU to be undefeated when the Zips play them. This is not one of Huggins' stronger teams, as their current low national ranking attests. I'd like to see them at least considered as strong as Mississippi State by the time the Zips play them. Plus it's always easier to cheer against Can't.

Districtballer
Wow West Virginia looks very beatable! You guys should be licking your chops. I certainly would be if I were a Zips fan. You guys may very well go undefeated in the OOC if you can beat Cleveland State. The team I saw against Mississippi State would wipe the floor with this Mountaineers squad. Not to mention this gives some much-needed credibility to the MAC in case you need an at-large with Can't State winning.

johnnyzip84
With BG playing tough at Georgia the other night and now K.E.N.T. handling WVU in Morgantown (Huggins always did have fits playing the F.L.A.S.H.E.S.), the MAC East is looking better than ever. Captain Kangaroo
And OU is no slouch either. Fun to see late-90's/early 2000's basketball return to the MAC. Early-season results can always be deceiving...but it looks like the MAC could have it's first legit claim to be a multi-bid NCAA Tourney conference in roughly a decade? The Hip Zip
I was very happy to see Can't take it to Thuggins. Great for our RPI when we beat W Va and Can't twice down the road. I was very impressed by Can't's guard play but I think their depth is suspect. While Greene is a stud and newcomer Evans can play, I feel that we will have an edge in the paint with Zeke and our depth at the 3-4 positions. It may not be a bad match up at all for us. Go MAC Go Zips !
skip-zip
Sorry guys. I couldn't root for Ken+. And certainly not against an Zips ex-coach. So what does this mean? On one hand, do we really want to know that Ken+ might be that good? Would we rather see that WVU is the beatable team right now, and worry about Ken+ later?
johnnyzip84
I think K.E.N.T. definitely has the advantage of playing WVU first. There will be no sneaking up on the 'eers when UA visits. Huggins would have done his best to avoid that anyway, but now he has a LOSS to a MAC squad to point to for emphasis. The Zips will have to play well to beat any of these quality opponents over the coming weeks.
Dr Z
So what does this mean?IMO it makes WV a "must" win for the Zips now. Say, Ken+ or Akron don't win the MAC tourney. If we are looking for an at large bid, the committee compares like opponents and maybe takes Ken+ over us. I know a ton of things have to happen to make this a possibility, but it could. It also takes away the uniqueness of beating WVU since Ken+ already did. It will also affect the betting line on UA vs WV.
