It is the offensive scheme we will see in 2012. Coach Bowden spent time at Oklahoma

State with Dana Holgerson before he went to WVU studying that offense. Then sent a few assistants including Tank Arrington and and I believe AJ (before he left for the Ju Co job) to WVU to spend time with Coach Holgerson and staff learning it also.

The Pokes are misfiring tonight and Stanford looks to be well prepared. I have seen plenty of OSU this year and they sure are fun to watch though. Thanks for the info and the heads up!

I did not know this, but makes my heartrate go up. As a big fan of Mike Leach, I would love to see the Zips run the evolution of his scheme.

And JZ84...you said the 3 magic words. FUN TO WATCH!!

And in 2009 Terry and his offensive staff went to Lubbock and spent several days with Coach Leach and his staff :)

I'm not telling you anything that wasn't reported in the local paper for UNA, the Times Daily :) I just do my research B)

Is it just me, or is the Stanford band using dog whistle horns? After every touchdown, all I can hear is drums.

Wouldn't surprise me, their band is weird as hell. Weird shirtless dudes, vests, strange hats, random dancing? I don't get how a University as prestigious as Stanford would want themselves represented that way. I'm glad our band at least plays with some class, acts, and dresses like it!

Oregon and OCan't State are good examples of how the modern spread offense raises a team a notch if executed properly. Both are good teams elevated to BCS status because of the offense. Neither team is dripping with offensive talent, but they do have talent in all the right places. They then take that talent and are CREATIVE about getting the ball to the key players. It doesn't take 22 great players. Only about 6 in the right places and a team can turn around quickly. That can be us.

The Rose Bowl and Fiesta Bowl were two of the best college football games I saw all season. Very exciting and fun to watch. Zips fans sure do need some fun at the games next season and I think it will happen.

Stanford's FG Kicker: the latest interpretation of our favorite saying "crap down your leg"

As Bobby Bowden learned at FSU far too often, a reliable kicker is worth his weight in gold. Whereas the Seminoles just could never seem to recruit an automatic FG/PAT guy, Akron seems set for the next three years in that regard. The Zips have also had an amazing run of star kickers (discounting the previous regime's).

You're exactly right. Same reason Texas Tech had such a great run with Mike Leach. With the type of offense that Coach Bowden will be running, and the type of aggressive and relentless defense that Coach Amato will implement, the current players will flourish, while attracting new players to the program.

Since WVU's HC Dana Holgorsen came from Oklahoma St, I figured I'd just tag my WVU comments here.

Watching the little Mountaineer Austin (#1) putting on a show, I have a prediction for 2012. Assuming he's on the team next year (and I have no reason to assume otherwise, but you never know with coaching changes), I believe Tyler Williams will absolutely blossom under the type of offense Terry Bowden is expected to run.

I'm thinking the same thing. I feel the spring game will have more people come than any home game last season. :D

I believe you are right. The current players will do well. However, they are going to need some help.

If there was a way to measure average talent level on a team, the Zips wouldn't score well right now (I guess how badly we were beaten in the MAC would be a good measurement, but I'm looking for something different). That doesn't mean what they have can't be worked with. They need some stars around what they have. A team on the rise needs six good players. Heck, a good MAC team only needs six good players...look at OU. We have Wagner so that is one of six. Maybe there are two more on the roster and we'll find that out this spring (Diamonds in the rough might be a good topic fellow board members). Three more need to be brough in. I don't expect all three next year, but the following year I expect us to be very good if we can round out what I will refer to as the "key 6" from this point forward. The key 6 are, in any order, RB, QB, WR, DE, LB and CB. This is how Jim Grobe has winning records at a school where winning hasn't happened all that often. It's simple. Find six good players and be creative about how they are used.

We can be good, and quickly. I'll go as far as to say we will be good, and quickly.

Is this coming from your Columbus connection? IMO Marquelo Suel is going to be one of those players next year. He has great hands, and will flourish with a new QB and system.

No news. I'm confident he is going to get an offer. My post made an assumption I shouldn't have.
