johnnyzip84 Posted January 4, 2012 Report Posted January 4, 2012 Arrest warrants issued for failure to appear in court. Looks like he may have pissed off a few folks down in Alabama. Hopefully this will be taken care of soon. Quote
Zipmeister Posted January 4, 2012 Report Posted January 4, 2012 This could result in a TB Theme song played every time the Zips take the field. Possibilities include..... Alabama Wants Me (sung to the tune of Indiana wants me). I Shot the Sheriff. Cannonball Run Theme. Quote
NewZipsFan Posted January 4, 2012 Report Posted January 4, 2012 This is awesome! You guys ACTUALLY get it! It is absolutely amazing how the fans in Alabama actually react to things.. Coach got a speeding ticket in a dealer car. He forgot to pay it. He got the notice when he picked up his mail in Alabama recently, and happened to call the courthouse to pay the fine earlier today. Such a coincidence that a "reporter" put it on his Facebook page, and it has grown to the proportions it has in a matter of a few hours. Amazing! Quote

This is a complete non issue. What I think a lot of people in Akron won't understand is how things like this actually go down in the south. He was protected by the good old boy network as long as he coached at UNA. Could have probably gone forever without paying the fine as long as he was coach. The media is actually part of it in small towns. The best thing to do is to stay out of the good old boy network. All the good old boy network is, is a group of about 5-6 guys who decide to do business with only one another....Then they spend the rest of their lives trying to screw each other over. The key to doing business in the south is staying out of the good old boy network and do business with the other 60 people. Quote

On another note NewZipsFan (you seem to be in the know), will Greg Williams be coming with our new DC to be on the staff? Our DB coaching spots seem to be filled up, but room in other areas is available. Someone I know wants to know. Quote

I'm sure Coach Bowden is going thru a mountain of resumes and making a ton of phone calls right about now. Quote

I spent quite a bit of time in the south over the past few years for work, and I have to tell you, some of it actually scared me. Quote

I have spent my career working in the construction industry. The mob is much more powerful than the good old boy network and that is something that isn't to be feared as long as you don't participate. Too many northerners in the south now to keep the good old boy network relevant. Quote

When it comes to college football in Alabama, it will be a LONG time before the good ole boy network becomes irrelevant Quote

johnnyzip84 Posted January 4, 2012 Author Report Posted January 4, 2012 Fine paid, crisis averted! Darn, I was hoping he'd parlay the court appearance into a recruiting trip! With apologies to Bon Jovi: I’m Terry Bowden In the dealer’s car I drive Now I’m wanted Dead or alive! Quote
