I am sooo confused about this issue too ! Peterson have the potential of being the team's MVP but he doesn't get playing time. Zach Sowers seems to be a very athletic (relatively big) shooting guard and yet he doesn't get any pt and we keep talking about our guards getting tired and blah blah blah while sowers is sitting on the bench !I wish we have somebody with inside information to explain this !don't get me wrong ! we are still :macc:

Sowers impressed me with his athleticism during the Midnight Madness-like thingy @ the JAR to open the season. We need more athleticism @ the 2 spot. and Peterson, I was under the impression that it was only his back that was holding him back, but last night I heard that last year KD felt he was a little lazy & so Peterson got in KD's doghouse. Apparently this off season he rededicated himself, but when he didn't get as much pt as he thought he should, he kind of got into a mental funk. (?) But I agree, Peterson should be getting more pt - and Sowers never sets foot on the court, though he may be our most athletic player.

The reason Zach and DP dont play is because KD has promises to Dru and Dials and that he doesnt want Ced to leave because he knows Ced isnt happy with his minutes. I bash Akron alot but trust me on this a very very close source to the Akron team has told me that KD is very favored toward certain players. Why dont you think Wood is happy with things and chose to redshirt? You might think I'm crazy with all of this but I am very close to someone who knows alot about your program and they have told me everything that goes on.Why didnt Dru practice the past 2 weeks last year but started every game? Why is DP's back hurt on the road but not at home? How does Romeo Travis quit the team the day before a game last year and come back and be the first one off the bench? huh? I have stories that none of you Akron fans will ever know. Haha.Your little coach isnt as straight forward as he seems

yeah, well the team's dirty laundry doesn't need to be aired. it's something they're going to have to work out, and if there's a big problem then the guys need to discuss it with their coach and as a team. crap like this happens with every team and if they can overcome it it will only make them stronger.

Well, I have a source too. And I can tell you quite honestly that KD does NOT get caught up in all that trivial stuff, he never has. He is a straight shooter in every sense. He makes no promises...to ANYONE! He plays to win. Period. He uses the players that he feels will play hard every minute and will help him win games. Funny how ya'll complain when we're a losing team, but now when we almost have 20 wins - people will still find something to complain about.

The talent not there yet.Travis, Joyce, Dials et al are overachievers. When the Zips play Louisville (a mediocre big-time team) and Nevada (a top-flight Mid-Major) it shows. Fans get all excited when the Zips win in a so-so league (MAC).KD is winning with smoke and mirrors. It remains to be seen whether or not KD can recruit effectively. KD is a value-added coach (Hipsher was not). But you still need talent. He must get the talent! If the in-fighting is to be believed (and it a big IF), its among the very ordinary.

We are 19-6. Unlike K-ent, we have yet to lose to a team less talented than us. That doesn't happen on teams with massive internal problems. We play hard every night. That doesn't happen on thems that have massive internal problems. If there are massive internal problems, please reference the Hipsher years to see the inevitable results. As ZipAnalyst said....we are simply missing talent. We are getting 110% out of the talent we presently have.

Hey Zipanalyst, you are right KD is an excellent coach and has been in alot of big games at all levels. Do not underestimate his recruitng ability. he recruited all of the main players on this team including Dials, Joyce, Wood, Travis, etc. In addition, UA has never won as many games in 20 years. He has chosen a non quick fix, less risky approach which should be commended. Also, what makes you think UA is such an easy sell. Unlike UA football, who has the best indoor facility in the Midwest, UA basketball has a poor facility and poor tradition. Be happy that you have a good team and be hopeful that you can keep your coach.
