YES. If we could sign this kid we will set a new D1 record for most linebackers on a roster listed at less than 200 pounds.

One of his traits shows "coverage skills". If he has some speed, maybe we'd have ourselves a big DB prospect??

I'm beginning to wonder if the early enrollees count against last year's recruiting class and not this year. Does anybody know the rules on that?

I did some research, and it looks like they can count for either class, depending on their circumstances.

I know Ben Cunningham counts toward the 2012 class. I imagine that Tyrell Goodman counts towards the 2011 class. No idea about the other four.

Just saw this about Jatavis Brown:

"Brown is a very active, productive run stopper; uses his playing speed to beat blockers across the line of scrimmage and create havoc in the opponent's backfield. Has the height and athleticism for the outside linebacker position at the major level of competition;"

sounds like a better version of Wagner :D

Out of 15 players that have signed so far today, 7 of them are from Ohio, 3 from Florida, 2 from Pennsylvania, 1 from Michigan, 1 from West Virginia, and 1 from New Jersey. More importantly, out of those 7 Ohio players, 5 of them are from Northeast Ohio...

One of my MAJOR concerns early in the Bowden era is his urge to recruit Northeast Ohio. I don't understand why he wants to recruit up here when everyone knows the best high school football is played in Cincinnati and SWO. :D

really? Last time i checked, out of the six 2011 state champions, 4 of them were from NE Ohio. The year before, it was 3 of them. :P

Only because all the good teams beat each other up in Cincinnati and NEO can pick up the scraps.:lol:

Jatavis is IN THE HOUSE!!

12:35 p.m.

Josh Smith, 6-2, 185, CB, from Western Hills High School in Cincinnati just sent in his letter of intent ... as did Jatavis Brown, 6-1, 190, LB, out of Florida's Glades Central High School.

Surprised they have josh smith as a corner. We need some explosive guys at receiver.

I think CB is our biggest need, by a long shot. We're ok at WR next season with Suel and Sconiers. And hopefully Bowden's staff can teach Price to catch the ball.

I think that completes our recruiting class today. All that's left is Darryl Waters, who I get the feeling isn't actually coming to Akron.

The staff put this recruiting class together in only 20 days. Can't wait to see what they can do with a full year.

It's apparently over. GoZips.com seemed to indicate the total class for 2012 has 21 players. I'm not sure what that means for those already enrolled.

I expect we'll hear some mention of how it works at the press conference.

Who was Darryl Waters?
