Spin
No matter what happens Friday night, Akron has a bye for the first two rounds. If they win, then they still win the regular season title, and top seed in Cleveland. That also comes with an auto bid in the NIT if the worst case scenario happens in Cleveland. UAZip0510
Our results vs. each team currently projected to be on our side of the bracket: Can't State - 2-0; 84-75, 61-55 E. Michigan - 1-0; 77-47 W. Michigan - 1-0; 69-66 (OT) Miami (OH) - 2-0; 65-60, 74-59 N. Illinois - 1-0; 75-51 I'd love for things to remain like they are. I feel like Buffalo and Ohio U are our toughest matchups, and the only time we'd see them is in the final. Can't State would also be a good Friday matchup, as Zeke matches up extremely well against their bigs. That is if they get there. They needed overtime to beat Western Michigan at home, beat Eastern Michigan by 4, and split two tight contests with Miami. The potential for an upset certainly exists. Bring on Justin Greene and let Zeke eat him up again.

No problem! The original writer did a great job of breaking it down initially, I just edited it with the updated scenarios. Another advantage is the Zips will play in the early game Friday. After we win, our Finals opponent will be playing until close to midnight.

Dave in Green
Mistake in the schedule: semifinals are Friday, not Wednesday. It's good that the Zips will play in the first game Friday, as it gives them a couple of extra hours to recover for Saturday's championship game. Quickzips
Big question right now is what would you rather see happen to OU? If they win today against Miami they will be the 3 seed, on the other side of the bracket from the Zips (along with Buffalo) and Akron won't have to face them until Saturday if at all. If they lose today and EMU loses today they would be the 4 seed, on the same side of the bracket as the Zips. They would get a bye until Thursday where they would likely face an EMU team that had to play 2 games in 3 nights just to get there. The Zips would then likely match up with them on Friday night. If they lose today and EMU wins today, OU would be the 5 seed. They would get no bye, but they would be on the same side of the bracket as the Zips. The bobcats would have a home game Monday against NIU, then would have to travel to Cleveland on Tuesday for a Wednesday matchup against another MAC West cupcake. Passing that test they would match up Thursday with a rested EMU squad that beat them during the regular season. If they survive that they would advance to take on our Zips on Friday evening. Personally, I almost prefer them to be the 3 seed. As much as I would like to see them have to play 5 games in 6 nights, I think having the likely matchup with them against Buffalo in the late game Friday works in our favor. Even though those are the only two teams to have beaten us this year, it would likely be a slugfest that would run late into the evening, tiring out whoever advances to Saturday where we will hopefully be fairly well rested and waiting. Worst case scenario IMO is to have them at the 4 seed.
skip-zip
I think this is IDEAL if Ken+ ends up at #4, as is projected. You play your A$$ off for the #1 seed in order to have a chance to get the most favorable matchups prior to the Final game. And between Ken+, OU, and Buffalo, I'd say that Ken+ is the best matchup for us.
GJGood
So, from the scenarios shown at the beginning of the thread I see that EMU has the possibilty of being the #3, #5, or #6. Is there no way they can get the #4 spot? The ideal scenario for me would be one where Buffalo is #2, Ohio #3, EMU #4, and the archrival #5. That way the two teams we match up the worst with we can't meet until the final AND they would likely have a tough exhausting game with each other 24 hours prior to that title tilt. Since I think OU is the even tougher matchup for us than Buffalo right now I'd like to see them as the 3 seed so they'd have to play 3 games in three days to reach the title game. In the Zips half of the bracket I'd love to see the 4-5 game be one where the Portage County team is playing for the second time in 24 hours or so. That way we'd either get EMU or a tired team in a rematch of the regular season finale. Just my take. But can EMU still get the 4?
MDZip
These are the only remaining possibilities for the top six seeds with the teams still in play and the games today: 1: Winners: Buffalo, EMU, OU Losers: BGSU 1: Akron 13-3 2: Buffalo 12-4 3: OU 11-5 4: Can't 10-6 (Can't beat EMU) 5: EMU 10-6 6: BGSU 9-7 2: Winners: Buffalo, EMU Losers: BGSU, OU 1: Akron 13-3 2: Buffalo 12-4 3: Can't 10-6 4: EMU 10-6 (Record among tied teams, Can't 2-1, EMU 1-1, OU 1-2) 5: OU 10-6 6: BGSU 9-7 3: Winners: Buffalo Losers: BGSU, OU, EMU 1: Akron 13-3 2: Buffalo 12-4 3: OU 10-6 (OU and Can't are 1-1, but OU has a better record against the higher seed, Akron, 1-1 vs 0-2) 4: Can't 10-6 (Can't beat EMU) 5: EMU 9-7 (EMU beat BGSU) 6: BGSU 9-7 4: Winners: Buffalo, OU Losers: BGSU, EMU 1: Akron 13-3 2: Buffalo 12-4 3: OU 11-5 4: Can't 10-6 5: EMU 9-7 (EMU beat BGSU) 6: BGSU 9-7 5: Winners: BGSU, EMU, OU Losers: Buffalo 1: Akron 13-3 2: OU 11-5 (OU swept Buffalo) 3: Buffalo 11-5 4: Can't 10-6 (Record among tied teams Can't 2-1, EMU 1-1, BGSU 1-2) 5: EMU 10-6 6: BGSU 10-6 6: Winners: BGSU, EMU Losers: Buffalo, OU 1: Akron 13-3 2: Buffalo 11-5 3: EMU 10-6 (Record among tied teams, EMU 2-1, Can't 3-2, OU 2-3, BGSU 2-3) 4: Can't 10-6 5: OU 10-6 (better record than BGSU against highest seed, Akron, 1-1 vs 0-2) 6: BGSU 10-6 7: Winners: BGSU Losers: Buffalo, OU, EMU 1: Akron 13-3 2: Buffalo 11-5 3: OU 10-6 (Record among tied teams Can't 2-2, OU 2-2, BGSU 2-2, OU has the best record vs highest seed, Akron, 1-1 vs 0-2 and 0-2, Can't vs BGSU drops all the way to EMU 1-0 vs 0-1) 4: Can't 10-6 5: BGSU 10-6 6: EMU 9-7 8: Winners: BGSU, OU Losers: Buffalo, EMU 1: Akron 13-3 2: OU 11-5 (OU swept Buffalo) 3: Buffalo 11-5 4: Can't 10-6 (1-1 against each other, 0-2 Akron, 1-1 OU, Buffalo, so drops agains to EMU, 1-0 vs 0-1) 5: BGSU 10-6 6: EMU 9-
MDZip
Down to only four possibilities now, OU and Buffalo now locked into the 2-3 seed spots (Buffalo win gives them a 2, a loss gives them a 3) and Can't locked as the 4 no matter what. We may indeed get to see the Flashes again. I think this sets up pretty well. 1: Winners: Buffalo, EMU, OU Losers: BGSU 1: Akron 13-3 2: Buffalo 12-4 3: OU 11-5 4: Can't 10-6 (Can't beat EMU) 5: EMU 10-6 6: BGSU 9-7 4: Winners: Buffalo, OU Losers: BGSU, EMU 1: Akron 13-3 2: Buffalo 12-4 3: OU 11-5 4: Can't 10-6 5: EMU 9-7 (EMU beat BGSU) 6: BGSU 9-7 5: Winners: BGSU, EMU, OU Losers: Buffalo 1: Akron 13-3 2: OU 11-5 (OU swept Buffalo) 3: Buffalo 11-5 4: Can't 10-6 (Record among tied teams Can't 2-1, EMU 1-1, BGSU 1-2) 5: EMU 10-6 6: BGSU 10-6 8: Winners: BGSU, OU Losers: Buffalo, EMU 1: Akron 13-3 2: OU 11-5 (OU swept Buffalo) 3: Buffalo 11-5 4: Can't 10-6 (1-1 against each other, 0-2 Akron, 1-1 OU, Buffalo, so drops agains to EMU, 1-0 vs 0-1) 5: BGSU 10-6 6: EMU 9-
UAZip0510
Can't State was locked into the #4 seed last night according the MAC Media Rep Jeremy Guy. EMU could have bumped up to the #3 seed had OU lost, but #4 was not a possibility. I'm keeping my two original posts updated for the entire tournament scenario as games go final. I wonder if he was right, I did find only one scenario where Can't would not be the four. I don't see an error, but its academic now. Winners: Buffalo, EMU Losers: BGSU, OU 1: Akron 13-3 2: Buffalo 12-4 3: Can't 10-6 4: EMU 10-6 (Record among tied teams, Can't 2-1, EMU 1-1, OU 1-2) 5: OU 10-6 6: BGSU 9-

Eastern Michigan can (believe it or not) earn the third seed if Ohio AND Can't State lose AND EMU wins AND Bowling Green wins. The BG win is important, because in that four-way tiebreaker EMU has a 2-1 record (66.7 percent), while Can't State is 3-2 (60 percent). Ties are broken on winning percentage, not number of wins. So yeah, I guess Can't could have been a different seed.
akronzips71
I would like to see both Can't and Buffalo LOSE their opening games, giving us an opponent we beat at least once, if not twice in the finals.
