skip-zip Posted March 2, 2012 Report Posted March 2, 2012 “I’d rather lose now and get it over with,” point guard Alex Abreu said of the regular season. Is that the right mindset going into tonight? He may have been thinking the same thing when he just let that guy run by him at midcourt during the OU game. I'm thinking you wouldn't say that if it would mean your 3rd loss in a row. Quote
Captain Kangaroo Posted March 2, 2012 Report Posted March 2, 2012 “I’d rather lose now and get it over with,” point guard Alex Abreu said of the regular season. Is that the right mindset going into tonight? I have to believe this is a misquote, since any reporter with a clue would have followed up such a response with: "So you are telling me you prefer to lose to K.e.n.t? On national television? Can you please elaborate? I've never hear that from a Zips player, in any sport, before." That quote is pure Ianello. Quote
tpsjugglerdude Posted March 2, 2012 Report Posted March 2, 2012 This was at the press conf after the Buffalo game. He was not talking about the Can't game. Quote

Dave in Green Posted March 2, 2012 Report Posted March 2, 2012 The complete thought would be: I hate losing any time. But if we're going to lose I would rather lose now in the regular season and get it over with, and go on a long winning streak in the post-season. Quote
zipseuph Posted March 2, 2012 Report Posted March 2, 2012 He did not say that in regards to Can't. regardless, it's something I don't like hearing from one of our players. Quote
Zips Win! Posted March 2, 2012 Report Posted March 2, 2012 I think what he meant to say was sometimes you win and sometimes you lose. On some nights the poing guard is really good and other days, not so much. While we really do not want to lose to Can't we all know that the games in Cleveland at the MAC tournament are more important. So, we will just play this game and give it our best shot, but at the end of the day you really won't know the outcome until about 9pm tonight. Quote
xu9697 Posted March 2, 2012 Report Posted March 2, 2012 Seems like he is being frank. He is saying what most fans would say instead of giving "player speak" or "coach speak". "I'd rather lose this one than any of the ones coming up!!" Quote
RACER Posted March 3, 2012 Report Posted March 3, 2012 i thought alex said we are mac champs!!!!!! zipseuph. Quote
Captain Kangaroo Posted March 3, 2012 Report Posted March 3, 2012 i thought alex said we are mac champs!!!!!! zipseuph. I think the OU fan that started this thread can't spell Abreu's name correctly. An action which is consistent with most of her posts. Quote
