Dave in Green
This thread is intended for full-time Zips basketball fans who are interested in following the Zips in the NIT. There are already several threads where part-time Zips basketball fans have expressed that they have no interest in what the Zips do in the NIT, so there's no reason for them to post in this thread. The NIT selection TV show is on ESPNU tonight at 9:00 p.m. Those who are interested can watch and see who the Zips will be playing and discuss it here. There are many other options for those who aren't interested.

Big Zip
Dave you are an idiot! Someone who wants and expects more from the Zips is not a part time fan. We have upped our standards Dave....up yours.

We have upped our standards Dave....up yours. Well, we could be sitting here with NOTHING right now. I want more too, but, I say Thank God we won the MAC season title. Yesterday = Another great example of why you cannot afford to rest all of your hopes every season on winning an incredibly unpredictable tournament. FromdaBurgh
Thank you DIG...because I have done EVERYTHING not to get on this board and BLAST some people! I am so sick of the foolishness...I mean give me a freakin break...this team brought the University their FIRST EVER regular season championship....the FIRST to ever go 13-1 in conference play and the DPOY (who--by the way--broke his season best in block shots) and is well on his way to becoming the NUMBER 1 SHOT BLOCKER IN MAC CONFERENCE!! We got the DPOY AND the 6TH MAN OF THE YEAR..and those IDIOTS (and yes I called you all IDIOTS..if the shoe fits..OH WELL--if it doesn't then good for you!!) have the audacity to degrade and disgrace this team, this season??!! Ridiculous...**exhaling** now that I got THAT off my chest...lets get ready to rumble in the NIT...my prediction is #4 seed against #5 Illinois AT HOME!!! My reminder is set on my TV...time to make some noise and get to MSG--momma gotz some NYC shopping to do....

We have upped our standards Dave....up yours. Nice come back Big Zip. I hope your negativity and sarcasm toward a great regular poster ( Dave) make you feel better. I prefer to feel better by hoping for a Zip victory against the likes of Drexel, Washington, Northwest, or maybe even a rematch with Miss St or Miami. Guys- all Im saying is the NIT isnt the CBI- Its full of good teams including UA

zippy5
I know I'll get excited about this once we start playing, I did in 08 as well. But right now I just can't. Watching the show of course, and hoping for a good matchup.

Z.I.P.
At Northwestern lol Pretty sure it's at Akron! Did you listen to the announcer? He said in all but one case the lower seed was the host -- that means #4 NWU @ #5 Akron! The winner probably travels to Seattle to play UW! Unfortunately that applies to Dayton because the NCAA play-in games are in Dayton.

GoZips88
Come on Zips! A little redemption for the NCAA/Big 10/smokey-back-room soccer debacle a few years ago. Kick the crap out of Northwestern!

He said in all but one case the lower seed was the host -- that means #4 NWU @ #5 Akron! The winner probably travels to Seattle to play UW! Thanks for the info. I'm looking forward to the match-up. N'Western got a lot of run for potentially being the 7th Big Ten team to make the NCAA Tournament. A match-up with a solid "bubble team" early will be a good challenge for the Zips. To be the best team in a tournament, you have to beat the best teams. UW would be a great second round challenge for the Zips. We have good enough talent to beat both of these teams and anyone else in the NIT.

zippy5
I agree...And, we have the talent to play with all of them. This is very true. I think UW would be around 5 point favorites, and that's the toughest test we'll face. We can hang with anyone here if the guys are up for it. Big Zip
Drawing Northwestern is the best thing that could have happened to Akron. The run they will get onESPN which is full of Northwestern journalism grads will be worth it. Wilbon and Greenburg are NW guys who have regular ESPN time slots and will find time to talk about their alma mater. They have been working them into the conversation for the past couple weeks.
