Z.I.P.
Why bring UA and a non-athletic hiring decision into the NFL's Saints smackdown? "Akron is either desperate for some attention or wants a coach-in-waiting if Terry Bowden doesn't work out. Point is, Tressel should be nowhere near a college campus. He should be suspended. The length of years is up to you, NCAA, I don't care." Wow! How come Mr Dodd gets the point, and so few on this board are able? Could it be his lack of bias? (e.g., "non-athletic hiring decision".) lol

Zip_ME87
I don't want the NCAA governing non-athletic decisions. I don't either. I'd prefer UA make better decisions on its own and not hire someone with this kind of "baggage".

tbozeglav
I think the comparison between a proven bounty program and a coach who got caught having players selling rings for tattoos is nearly night and day. One is a program designed with malice, the other is an instance of turning a blind eye to students doing some things not allowed by the NCAA off the field. If this guy thinks JT deserves worse, he's borderline insane. The saints got what they deserved because the program was meant to reward players for overly violent plays on other teams... The Tattoo-gate was just another school letting their players get some money on the side... Come on people...

The JT hire was a complete Athletic Department issue and with the hiring of TB, we didn't need to act in desperation. Desperation can make people lose their integrity. I think we sold our soul to the Devil in this case. Shame on those in a position of authority at UofA for letting this happen. I have yet to hear a good argument as to why this was a good long term hire.
Dr Z
Dodd's points are valid. I rationalize the hiring in my mind hoping that JT gets some OSU honks to contribute to Akron that would normally contribute to Columbus St.
zen
This just in, NCAA has vetoed the US Senate's justice appointments

There will be many, many, many UA alum falling over themselves for a chance to talk tosu football with The Vest. If they have to throw a few bucks UA's way, they will. Otherwise, they don't give a damn about UA...it was just a place to get a degree.
