Interview with Eddie Stockett

It's a good thing George took a break from writing about Can't State baseball that he actually wrote some articles about Akron. Sorry man, but dozens of Can't State tweets in the news feed of a Zips reporter doesn't look very good. Unless something bad is happening with the flashers we don't need to hear about it.

And what was Akron exactly doing during the Can't State run? Change your name to akdowner.

I don't want to be rude, but in the newspaper business we live in a day and age - especially sports - that there are times that reporters HAVE to cover a topic not on their assigned beat.

Stephanie Storm, the normal Flashes writer, was busy with NFL Draft stuff along with the Akron Aeros. Once Zips baseball ended I had a little bit of track to cover and I got Can't baseball which quickly became a national story, like it or not.

I get paid to write. Period. My guess is that most here would not like the college team that I support. But here's my philosophy regarding covering a beat: I can like the people - be they player, coach or affiliated staff member - but I try to avoid showing any bias in my reporting. Bottom line: I write what I'm assigned.

+1

Thank you for enlightening posters about how a news organization works.

George, ignore the whining minority, most of us love what you and the BJ are doing for Zips sports right now. Interviews with recruits now? Heck, before we were happy to get an occasional interview with the head coach. Love what you're doing. Keep it up.

Interesting, some on here believed that nobody cared about Cant's run in the CWS ;)

Well, considering what we had in the past, I think the school ought to consider renewing George's contract for the next few years. That wouldn't be a conflict would it? :D
