Dr Z Posted July 24, 2012 Report Posted July 24, 2012 According to two separate emails I have received, season ticket holders are supposed to be able to score two free away tickets to the CMU game. In both instances the link has taken me to a OWA server sign in??? Anybody figure this out? PS There is also going to be a football lunch Aug 24th. Details to follow... Quote
K92 Posted July 24, 2012 Report Posted July 24, 2012 I am puzzled by this complementary ticket deal. If the idea is to encourage travel, why comp tickets to the least attractive destination? It takes about 8 days to get to Mount Pleasant. Thanks, but no thanks. Ohio & Toledo seem like the logical choices to me. Good idea but poor execution. Quote

Next year, it could be N. Illinois or UMass, if they offer at all. Akron to Mt Pleasant: ~321 miles Akron to DeKalb: ~431 miles Akron to Amherst: ~618 miles Quote
skip-zip Posted July 24, 2012 Report Posted July 24, 2012 That's an absolute joke, in my opinion. Why pick OU or Toledo when you can give away tickets late in the fall to an afternoon game in Northern Michigan, when few people will go, the weather won't be good, and there will likely be quite a few thousand empty seats, thus making it a very inexpensive offer to fulfill ?? So much for the "extra" that we had all be waiting for. Quote
Captain Kangaroo Posted July 25, 2012 Report Posted July 25, 2012 You'd be happier with free Great Lakes Dortmunder than Milwaukee's Best...but free beer is free beer. You can't complain. It certainly does go against the intent of the give-away to provide free tickets to a game 5 hours away against Mount Pleasant's Best. And just a head's up - If you attend any MAC road football game and hang around the gate asking "anyone have an extra ticket?", it takes about 13 seconds before someone puts a freebie in your hand. All MAC road games are free. Quote
Captain Kangaroo Posted July 25, 2012 Report Posted July 25, 2012 In what I feel is an ingenious game day promotion, I have learned there will be an honorary team captain for 2012 game between the 3-9 Chippewas and the 1-11 Zips. Flip that coin, and then ride off into the sunset my friend.... Quote
scottditzen Posted July 26, 2012 Report Posted July 26, 2012 For a long time I've been wanting to hit up Western Michigan, just not in late November. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/e...hHavenBeach.jpg http://www.flickr.com/photos/dtidrick2/4459212700/ http://www.bellsbeer.com/ Quote

K92 Posted July 26, 2012 Report Posted July 26, 2012 I had tentatively planned to travel to Kalamazoo last year until the wheels fell off. Bell's was a big reason why. Always love to visit a good craft brewer. One of the reasons why I wouldn't mind travelling to Athens for a game: Jackie O's Maybe I should just quit bitching and head on up to the game and check out Mt. Pleasant Brewing. Quote

You beat me to the Jackie O's/OU suggestion!! That place serves delicious beer. Lots of good bars there. To me, Athens is the best example of a college town I can think of. Bells....gotta get there sooner or later....Dr. Z you are a lucky guy! Quote
