johnnyzip84
http://www.ohio.com/blogs/ua-zips/universi...ations-1.326402 Thanks again! It's hard to imagine that Pratt hasn't played himself into the 2-deep.
LZIp
Thanks for the article. Looking like Pratt is going to make an immediate impact. George- what unit would you consider to be the weakest on the team(oline, QBs, lbs, etc)? From your articles, I'm going to guess QBs due to their inconsistency

Zipmeister
I don't understand how depth at linebacker can be a problem. There are a dozen guys listed at linebacker on the roster and all but a few of them have decent size for a DII team.

Just because there are a ton of them, doesn't mean that there are a ton of them that can play at the level our coaches expect our players to play. Unless there is a huge drop off in talent between our starters and second stringers

NewZipsFan
Kind of makes you wonder why we used scholarships on players that aren't big/fast/good enough to play at the D1 level How many LB's did this staff sign? Not sure myself. I know that we signed a few this year - but you never want to play freshmen unless you absolutely have to. I have a feeling that because Coach Amato is the LB coach, he may be being overly critical - and that unit will end up being very solid by the time the season starts. Just my opinion. NewZipsFan
sarcasm can be hinted by the willing. This is the internet. Throw us a smiley. Bingo! Sarcasm does not translate well in print. Very few can do it successfully -- Dennis Dodd and Mike Bianchi are about the only two writers I know who can.

RatFink
Why are some of you dumping on the football Zips when they have yet to play a game? Akron has gathered some of the best coaching talent in the country. Give them a chance to show their talents and abilities. For starters, a former Akron linebacker, Chase Blackburn was not even drafted out of college now possesses two Super Bowl rings he earned. Blackburn was a division 2 size and talent player according to some of you. Bad mouth a quality coach and his staff; what class. The Cant State boards need you. I don't see being realistic as bad mouthing. It's not like we are just pulling these assumptions out of our asses. GT and NZF are well connected to the program. I'm 99% positive that they are saying these things because that's what the coaches are telling them. How that is bad mouthing this coaching staff is beyond me. Yeah there's no way we can stack up to the Urban Meyer and Luke Finkel led team for Columbus. I love how fans of the Red and Grey used to talk about how overrated he was at Florida and only won because of Tebow. Now he's in Columbus and he's the best coach of all time! woooo! If you really think that Terry Bowden is a better coach (at this moment) than Urban Meyer, you're pretty delusional. I'm excited about the coaches, too, but I'm keeping my expectations within reality.
