MaxZIP
TB should focus recruiting efforts on one side of the ball. You can win in the MAC playing great offense. Wait for the other guy to make a mistake.
LZIp
I feel we have some nice, young talent on offense. We have to remember that many of our guys our Sophomores or Freshman. I think they will develop just fine.
Lee Adams
The MAC may be changing a bit. Its been a basketball league for a while now. But, the teams that are solid this year have solid D's. NIU,BGSU,OU,K.S.U.,Toledo. Solich may have started that trend. More teams seem to be producing better defensive players than in the conference previously.

I think they will develop just fine. Exactly. Time to double down on offense. We have zero depth on both sides of the ball. Build on the young offensive talent to bridge some of the gap between us and the Mac. We could win 5-7 games a year playing stellar offense...put points up and let the other teams try to catch you. We will begin to get better talent if we stand out and have an identity. After 2 or three years start on D. We need to get better so that better players will come. Play to our current strength. We all talk about the bare cupboard coach left. This is a two phase building plan that will bring us back faster than trying to convince players we don't suck in all phases. GP1
More teams seem to be producing better defensive players than in the conference previously. The good teams are getting better players all around. That's how good teams are made. It's like saying, "Defense wins championships". Good teams win championships, not defense. Dr Z
A good offense will get you a winning record (and into the playoffs), a good defense with that offense will win you a championship. See 1970 through present day. It's hard to build a good defense because you need a lot of good players and time together in that defense. You don't need as many good players on offense, sometimes you just need one...the QB.

You don't need as many good players on offense, sometimes you just need one...the QB. That might be true in the NFL but you can win the MACC by putting up points. You can also put butts in the seats and draw in more talent. See the Urban Meyer experience at OSU. Losing JT will probably go down as the turning point for OSU and possibly the BIG 10 in terms of excitement, national exposure, and recruiting potential. Lee Adams
If it hurts people to consider other ideas, thats an individual decision. Maybe you don't like the source. Who knows. What has been clear around here for years is that the teams except for 2 years w/RI have been able to score points pretty regularly. This year is a good example of that. One of the better producing O's in the MAC. Hell Williams is setting team records. Bowden Ball is fine on that side. But,the big dogs in the MAC can now play some defense as well as put points on the board. Its like TB has said on numerous occasions,'we were chasing points' because we got behind. The offense is now the strength of the team, duh. Get a couple of real playmakers in the middle of that defense(not just guys who have to make tackles because nobody else can),take one TD off the board for the opposition each game with this offense you have a .500+ team. See ya in 212 on Saturday!

See ya in 212 on Saturday! The zips are middle of the road in offense in points scored and yards including the ridiculous Morgan State romp. All of the Mac leaders are still better. We would win more games with one more td as well...oh wait how many games have we lost by 1 td? 2. A couple of guys in the middle wont do much.
