Zip_ME87
Embick is our coach, and I want to see him succeed. However, to belittle Shaun Docking's resume' as a means of supporting Embick is simply ignoring the real facts and hand picking ones of convenience based on the only things Docking hasn't achieved. This kind of stuff might be worthy of Faux News, but here at ZNO, we're better than that. You guys read way too much into things. I was seriously asking why Shaun Docking was considered a top flight coach and not belittling him in support of Jared.
Zip_ME87
The University is trying to get the other sports caught up. If this is true that the University is trying to get the other sports caught up to Mens Soccer by ignoring Mens Soccer, then our Athletic Department's leaders are even more pathetic than I thought. oldzip
Shaun Docking is a top flight coach. True, he might not have all of the accolades that you selectively mentioned, but he does have everything else... All-Americans MLS players Scholar Athlete of the Year Academic All-Americans Regular league championships Regular NCAA Tournament victories Top-25 rankings US Youth Soccer Regional Coach Member of Missouri Athletic Club's Hermann Trophy Award Committee Member of NSCAA National Ranking Committee He's an Akron alum! And his program continues to grow stronger These things are miraculous at a school like Coastal Carolina especially considering it's in the backyard of some major soccer programs...Duke, UNC, Wake Forest, Clemson, NC State, and the University of South Carolina! Just this past year, CC beat Wake Forest (on the road in the NCAA Tournament) and South Carolina (away) and tied UNC (neutral) and OSU (away). What would Akron soccer be if throughout its history, Ohio State, Pitt, Cincinnati, or Michigan had strong programs? Embick is our coach, and I want to see him succeed. However, to belittle Shaun Docking's resume' as a means of supporting Embick is simply ignoring the real facts and hand picking ones of convenience based on the only things Docking hasn't achieved. This kind of stuff might be worthy of Faux News, but here at ZNO, we're better than that. I might remind you too that Embick's resume' isn't even in the same universe as Docking's. Embick is our coach only because of continuity from what Porter started and Embick's potential that likely comes with Porter's endorsement. I addition to the accomplshments above, I think what Shaun has accomplished is all the more impressive when considering that Coastal is not fully funded, has only one poorly paid ($30k) assistant, has a crap facility and a ridiculously small recruiting budget. That having been said I am 100% behind Jared and believe that those in doubt will be pleasantly surprised this fall.
TennZip
in 2012, the #1 ranked recruiting class was announced on Feb. 8, 2012 the fall schedule was announced on April 18, 2012 then on May 9, 2012....6 more additions were announced including Phil Fives and transfer Robbie Derschang...Phil Fives and Robbie both turned out to be excellent late pickups to get some zip soccer excitement going....they at least need to announce next year's schedule....and it sure would be nice to see an official announcement about the forward from England...and a few transfers would be nice as well

Zip_ME87
@TennZip and fknbuflobo - I agree about the needed press releases. Can you please use the "Ask the AD" feature on GoZips.com and politely request that information if you have not already done so? I did awhile ago and was told they weren't ready to release yet. I think it would be helpful if more of us asked. Thanks in advance. EDIT: They may not be able to announce anything about the forward from England. They may still be in the process of getting him cleared. (Totally a guess on my part...no inside info on this.) However, they should be able to put out a release on the others who have signed NLIs, including Victor, who played in the Spring match vs CSU, and then follow up later with an additional announcement of others as they have in the past. That having been said I am 100% behind Jared and believe that those in doubt will be pleasantly surprised this fall. All good points. I too am 100% behind Embick. After Lolla left, I nominated Shaun Docking as the next head coach via an email to LP and the Department of Athletics. I was disappointed to hear he did not get the position in favor of Porter who at the time had only been an excellent player and an assistant coach. I was pleasantly surprised at the results only two years later, but still believe Docking would be an incredible coach for us. Anyone remember how Porter's tenure started?...5-0 beat down loss at the hands of UCSB. I was super worried at that point. So, even if we don't start off the season as well as we'd like, there's still hope.

Zip_ME87
Guy it's simple. We have a game on Saturday, let's just corner Embick after the game and demand information. So, how many times did you corner Caleb Porter and demand information? Actually, Paul Warner is the Sports Information Director for Men's Soccer and is therefore responsible for press releases. Perhaps asking him would be the thing to do, but I know, in this day and age of texting and posting to message boards, it's much easier to complain and have no common courtesy than it is to actually talk with someone and request something.
