MDZip
I know it's a bit early, but the Zips are making the NCAA tournament regardless of what happens in the MAC tournament this weekend. If they win it, I think they are assured a top four seed. Here is one writer's projection of the field before this weekend's play. He has the Zips at a four seed but with UNC, Marquette and UConn in their bracket. If it fell out that way, I think that would be "the group of death". Glad there is more time before the selections are announced. And he has Notre Dame as the #1 seed? I know they beat the Zips and have a really strong RPI but I can't see a team with three losses getting the one seed. Here's hoping they go down in the Big East tournament. According to the site you linked, it doesn't seem like much of a projection reading this note at the bottom of the page: The RPI will change dramatically as the season progresses. The projections are not reflective of any national polls nor are they attempting to gauge who the best teams are. They are designed to predict which teams would be selected to the NCAA Tournament if the selections were to be made at this moment.
MDZip
That's why its a projection. And though it doesn't really mean much of anything the Zips are now the #1 team in two different polls: College Soccer News Top Drawer Soccer David Meves was also selected as the College Soccer News Player of the Week. okayokay
Alot depends on the Big East and ACC tournament results.
plowerman78
UCLA tied Cal last night, again win these next 2 we will have a top 4 seed. IF Maryland doesnt win the ACC Tournament, and ND not the Big East (which both could happen) and we take care of our business we SHOULD be the overall number 1. As of right now id say 1-3 for our seed
okayokay
The new RPI has us at number
GoZipsGoZips
I know it's a bit early, but the Zips are making the NCAA tournament regardless of what happens in the MAC tournament this weekend. I know they beat the Zips and have a really strong RPI but I can't see a team with three losses getting the one seed. Here's hoping they go down in the Big East tournament. The ACC will have a lot more impact than the Big East !!! Big East: All of the Big East teams but one... will loose this week... in the Big East Tournament. Georgetown plays Marquette and Notre Dame plays UConn. Two of these teams will not get any more RPI points... and two may pass Akron for a Friday win... and one will get more points than Akron in the Sunday win. The worst case scenario is that Notre Dame does not win... and another Big East team passes Akron... and ND stays ahead of Akron in the RPI. ACC The bad news is that the ACC is just starting... with first round games TOPNIGHT (more chances to gain RPI points) !!! Here's the bracket: http://grfx.cstv.com/photos/schools/acc/sp...msocbracket.pdf So... one team will have 3 more wins against quality opponents... and one will have 2 wins... and 2 will have 1 more win. Not Good. IF Maryland and North Carolina play for the Championship... the best two teams... they could both pass Akron in the RPI with at least 2 quality wins (2 and 3). Since we can't see the RPI points... we may also have to worry about the winner of the Wake forest and Virginia game winning the tournament... even though they are down the RPI scale a bit. But... that would also likely allow only 2 teams to pass Akron. PAC-12 Probably... we only need to worry that UCLA passes Akron. Big Ten(12) Here’s a link to the Big Ten tournament... the bracket link is here: http://grfx.cstv.com/photos/schools/big10/...gtenbracket.pdf Same scenario with the Big Ten as the ACC... winner could have 3 more wins... but Indiana is the highest ranked team and they are not likely to pass Akron with an MSU win and 2 more quality opponents (Penn State and Northwestern?). So… WORST CASE SCEANRIO for the NCAA Tournament for Akron: 2 ACC teams and 2 Big East teams pass Akron… and UCLA gets ahead on a PAC 12 win… putting Akron 6th BEST CASE SCEANRIO: Upsets in the ACC, Big East and PAC12 and Akron finishes #1 Most Likely Scenarios: 1 ACC Team and 1 Big East Team and UCLA finish ahead of Akron… and Akron finishes 4th OR 2 ACC Teams and 1 Big East Team finish ahead of Akron… and Akron finishes 4th OR 3 ACC and Big East teams… and UCLA finish ahead of Akron… putting us at 5th. I think that we'll finish 4th... based on a couple of upsets.
TennZip
the seeding committee does not have to rely solely on the RPI.... the seeding committee.....knows that Akron would have won at Creighton except for a horrible off side call... the seeding committee....knows that Akron's only loss was due to a red card..... if Akron takes cares of business this weekend, the lowest that they would be seeded is #3...behind big east and acc tourney winner

UAZipster0305
Chanticleers! Has anyone seen F Ashton Bennet play? I have read of his greatness. +1 I really hope Coastal Carolina is not in our regional if we get a seed. Shaun Docking is a UA alum and has built a great program. IMO, they deserve to get to the Elite Eight or the Final Four. Ashton Bennet is up for the Lowe's Senior Class Award with Scott Caldwell. I vote for both of them.
