akzipper Posted March 3, 2013 Report Posted March 3, 2013 About time we wake up. Team needs to get motivated.
bUAkronG Posted March 3, 2013 Report Posted March 3, 2013 Pretty stubborn not to switch to zone. They burnt us at home when we played man then we played zone to stop them. they also burned us in the 1H when we went to Zone.
akzipper Posted March 3, 2013 Report Posted March 3, 2013 Yeah playing from behind every game isn't going to hurt us? I'm sure if we keep air-balling 3's and throwing the ball to cheerleaders we can come back Guess if losing now is better than losing in the tournament.
phil Posted March 3, 2013 Report Posted March 3, 2013 Harney isn't boxing out or rebounding tonight and it is hurting us on the zone. They are rebounding their misses. Bentacourt and Alex on the floor at the same time. That is a new look. Kretzner got hit in the back. The refs and replay both missed it since it was away from the ball.
cjapsu Posted March 3, 2013 Report Posted March 3, 2013 The lack of people in this thread is disconcerting... did everyone actually think we'd waltz right over UB?
bUAkronG Posted March 3, 2013 Report Posted March 3, 2013 Abreu with a 3.... Hopefully this continues the trend of his big 3's lifting the Zips to a rally.... but it starts on the DEFENSIVE end..
originalrowdy Posted March 3, 2013 Report Posted March 3, 2013 We really need to score on every possession. And some freakin' stops would be nice!!!
bUAkronG Posted March 3, 2013 Report Posted March 3, 2013 What happened to our defensive prowess? Buffalo shooting 54%. We must get some stops if we want to win this.
originalrowdy Posted March 3, 2013 Report Posted March 3, 2013 At-large talk was nice. Time to win the MACC.
johnnyzip84 Posted March 3, 2013 Report Posted March 3, 2013 The lack of people in this thread is disconcerting... did everyone actually think we'd waltz right over UB? Absolutely not! I, for one, got sick of the negativiity of the in-game threads. Anyone who thought this would be easy must not understand how good of a player Javon McCrea is. It doesn't look good right now, and if we come up short I'm not going to lay into a team that just raised Akron hoops to national attention.
cjapsu Posted March 3, 2013 Report Posted March 3, 2013 At-large talk was nice. Time to win the MACC. Well let's be honest with ourselves - that's always been the easiest and most direct route.
bUAkronG Posted March 3, 2013 Report Posted March 3, 2013 Zips are really testing my faith. And Deji just got ejected. Our heads are NOT in this game.
johnnyzip84 Posted March 3, 2013 Report Posted March 3, 2013 Sometimes it just comes down to whoever is making their shots.
cjapsu Posted March 3, 2013 Report Posted March 3, 2013 Zips are really testing my faith. And Deji just got ejected. Our heads are NOT in this game. Don't look too much into this game - we don't ever play well @ Buffalo. Better the loss come now than in the MAC tournament!!!
cjapsu Posted March 3, 2013 Report Posted March 3, 2013 I don't know what kind of demons exist in the UB arena but it's nuts... the crowd doesn't really care at all but the Zips aren't showing any energy at all. They must just be falling asleep out there. My guess is that they're just tired.
bUAkronG Posted March 3, 2013 Report Posted March 3, 2013 Zips are not used to this deficit this late in the game. In the run we have been down by 10+ but in the first half. Still time, but I don't want to see forced 3's. There is no excuse for fatigue. U@B has played 7 players to our 11.
johnnyzip84 Posted March 3, 2013 Report Posted March 3, 2013 Before we lay this all on "effort" let's remember how well U@B played the Zips in game 1 at the JAR. Now that Reggie had some time to work with the Bulls against our zone, they were pretty effective against it this time around. Perhaps the matchup isn't ideal fo the Zips?? It wouldn't break my heart NOT to see them in Cleveland.
zip81 Posted March 3, 2013 Report Posted March 3, 2013 It would have been nice to go undefeated in the MAC, but I'm glad the streak is over and we can concentrate on winning the tournament.
odhgibo Posted March 3, 2013 Report Posted March 3, 2013 Yeah this is over. The unmotivated play is the most frustrating part of this game. Big comeback on the way now!
cjapsu Posted March 3, 2013 Report Posted March 3, 2013 Yeah this is over. The unmotivated play is the most frustrating part of this game. I know this is going to sound like rationalizing but seriously - lose now, lose all the pressure around the streak, and go into the tournament with less "national" pressure!! I mean, UB is getting ridiculously bad calls to put them on the line and they won't get those in Cleveland. Hell, they won't even be matched up against UA in Cleveland so who cares. We all knew it would come down to the tournament back in November and we shouldn't be mad now. This team is still built to roll in the postseason. Let's see them thrive in the tournament in a few weeks!!

johnnyzip84 Posted March 3, 2013 Report Posted March 3, 2013 Congrats on the 19 game streak, Zips! Let's start another one, with far more importance, on Tuesday. Go Zips!!!
