jupitertoo Posted February 28, 2013 Report Posted February 28, 2013 As an Ohio fan, I want to come on here and tell you that this Akron team is the best MAC squad since Can't's Elite 8 team. Ohio played at a very high level in the first half and sporadically in the second half, but Dambrot's team is fearless. Very impressive. And it was one hell of a game to watch from the sidelines and a very electric environment. Quote

72 Roo Posted February 28, 2013 Report Posted February 28, 2013 Jupiter, Nothing but praise for the game Ohio put on. The Convo was magnificent and the fans were totally behind your team. The atmosphere was something we will rarely see in the MAC again. The Zips will not see that type of event until we trade in our high school gym for a true college arena. So far we have had lots of talk but no action. It is a shame that the best team in the MAC plays in a place like the JAR. We can only hope that the success of last night propels our leaders and community supporters to get us an arena equal to a top 25 team. I am jealous of the Convo and what you put on last night. It was first class and worthy of the top two teams in any conference. Quote
taxpayer Posted February 28, 2013 Report Posted February 28, 2013 I'll add myself to the list of people jealous of the game night atmosphere the Zips dealt with last night. Simply put, OU has the best intro and game enviroment in the MAC. Thankfully, the Zips continue to provide us with evidence that this current group of players are some of the most determined and tough minded men Akron has had the opprotunity to watch and root for. Talk about looking into the face of adversity and simply walking back onto the court and taking games away from their opponents. Lets hope these Zips can continue to overcome injury, adversity and the temptation to listen to us fans instead of concentrating on this years biggest game....the next one. STAY FOCUSED....Go Zips beat Buffalo! Quote
Dave in Green Posted February 28, 2013 Report Posted February 28, 2013 @jupitertoo, you can't be the best without beating the best. I think it was critical that the Zips prove to themselves they could beat a defending sweet 16 team with all their players back in one of the most hostile environments in college basketball. I've seen thousands of college basketball games over the decades, and this game was a classic battle for the ages. If OU had lost because they played a bad game, it would not have had as much meaning for the Zips. Both teams played their guts out, and one team barely prevailed. That's why I love college basketball so much. With Can't down, the Zips needed OU to give them the ultimate conference gut check. Quote
GoZips88 Posted February 28, 2013 Report Posted February 28, 2013 Last night's game vs. OU was a litmus test - can this team win games that matter regardless of location? Are they ready to finish off the MAC and maintain the focus and team play to move beyond the first round of March Madness? Last night convinced me this team is a contender that is ready to take that next step. A big CONGRATULATIONS to staff and players!!! Continue to play like champions in Buffalo on Saturday - GO ZIPS!
