mes102
Usually this thread is already on ZN.o already, but with the motto #ThinkBigger, we certainly are doing that. Just thought it would be interesting to see what it would look like right now, and see who to root for in the last 3 conference games. Here's what it would look like right now #1 Akron 14-1 #2 Ohio 13-2 #3 Western Michigan 9-6 Toledo 9-6 (ineligible) #4 Can't State 8-7 #5 Eastern Michigan 7-8 (2-1) #6 Buffalo 7-8 (1-1) #7 Ball State 7-8 (1-2) #8 Bowling Green 6-9 #9 Central Michigan 4-11 #10 Northern Illinois 3-12 (1-0) #11 Miami(OH) 3-12 (0-1) This would mean our half of the bracket would look like this: #8 Bowling Green vs #9 Central Michigan 8/9 winner vs #5 Eastern Michigan 8/9/5 winner vs #4 Can't State 8/9/5/4 winner vs #1 Akron Ohio's bracket would look like this: #6 Buffalo vs #11 Miami(OH) #7 Ball State vs #10 Northern Illinois 6/11 winner vs 7/10 winner 6/11/7/10 winner vs #3 Western Michigan 6/11/7/10/3 winner vs #2 Ohio

Kangaroo Craig
So we would likely play Can't State then OU. Wouldn't want it any other way.
originalrowdy
I take it we lock up the #1 seed either by: (1) Winning one more game; or (2) OU loses one more game. And yes, Can't, then OUt is just what the doctor would order in route to a 2013MACC! #won'tstopthere
RootforRoo44
I want to play the highest RPI MAC teams in the MAC tourney. We have to get every spot we can before selection Sunday to get a higher seed.
UAZip0510
OU has to be thrilled to have Can't on the other side of the bracket. They beat them both times, but both matchups could have easily been losses as well. Western Michigan would be the likely matchup for OU in the semis. Western almost beat OU at home in their previous matchup. I expect Akron vs OU in the final, but both still have to take care of business. They are the only other team in the MAC with a decent season.
skip-zip
This has me a little torn. The idea of being the #1 seed is to get the easier game in the semis. To me, that would surely be Western Michigan. However, I love the idea of playing Ken+ since they would likely be the more valuable victory, and it's the best matchup for crowd excitement on Friday. Damn.
Dr Z
I'll take Ken+, then OU. Can't beat those two enough in one season IMO.
originalrowdy
My dark horse pick is BG should the above mentioned seedings hold up. They smacked up NIU, Ball, and K ent once each already. I could easily see us playing them in the semi.
Dave in Green
From the selection committee's perspective, playing Western Michigan (RPI rank #107) would clearly provide more value to the Zips than playing Can't (RPI #171).

Can't State, while having a lower RPI, has a much better record, which is actually what determines 66% of the boost to our own RPI score when we play them. Dave in Green
WMU's record is 18-9 while Can't is 16-12.
Dr Z
I pray we don't play WMU, that was one of the worst college games I watched this year.
ZachTheZip
WMU's record is 18-9 while Can't is 16-12. My mistake. I thought you were comparing them with Bowling Green.
bUAkronG
Consider me one of the people who would rather matchup with Western Michigan or Bowling Green in the semis. I agree that we have much better talent then Can't and shouldn't have any problems beating them, but they are still our rivals. They always play us tough(I'm actually a little concerned about the game next Friday) regardless of them having a down year. Rivalry games are never easy to predict. BG doesn't scare me in the least, and KD has WMU's number.

akzipper
So we will face Buffalo or Can't, while Ohio has to play WMU? Talk about a cakewalk for them...
UAZip0510
So we will face Buffalo or Can't, while Ohio has to play WMU? Talk about a cakewalk for them... As of right now, I believe UB would be on Ohio's side. I'd rather face Can't State than UB in the Semis.
akzipper
As of right now, I believe UB would be on Ohio's side. I'd rather face Can't State than UB in the Semis. True. Both would be tough with probably Can't being the more preferred match-up. Frustrating how things always fall right into OhioU's lap like having to play WMU. originalrowdy
It appears, regardless of the rest of the week, seeds 1-4 are locks. 1 - UA 2 - OU 3 - WMU 4 - Can't

Frustrating how things always fall right into OhioU's lap like having to play WMU. They probably won't play WMU, I think they'll be playing Buffalo in the semis. In which case I won't be sure who to root for.

Frustrating how things always fall right into OhioU's lap like having to play WMU. Right now Can't State, Eastern Michigan, Bowling Green, and Central Michigan would be on the Zips side of the bracket. Western Michigan, Buffalo, Ball State, Northern Illinois, and Miami would fall on Ohio's side. I prefer the group we have. Ball State lost big to OU, but they've been playing better lately, winning 6 out of the last 7. Buffalo has the ability to upset anybody. Even Western Michigan could surprise - they only lost by 2 to Ohio earlier in the season and were able to defeat both Can't State and Buffalo. On the flip side, Akron beat EMU by 8, BG by 13, and CMU by 12. Only Can't State poses a real threat. I'd rather have WMU instead of Can't State in the Semis, but I'd definitely prefer Buffalo to stay on the other side.
Big Zip
It looks like Buffalo and Can't can end the season tied at 8-8 but Can't wont the season series 2-0. I suspect that will keep Can't on our side of the bracket. Looking at Buffalo's schedule this season there is a loss on the schedule to Eastern Michigan where the only scored 46 points and lost by 19. It was at EMU but if I'm KD and we have to play them again I'd watch that game to see what happened and how EMU held Buffalo to 28% shooting in the 2nd half. Maybe it was just a bad night for Buffalo as they also shot 11-22 from the line.
