Dambrot at the HOF Luncheon Club

Dambrot said there is a “95 percent chance” that forward Quincy Diggs will return next season.

“That’s a big deal for us,” Dambrot said. “He’s probably one of the top two or three players in our conference.” Of all the words of tongue or pen, the saddest are "it might have been". Trying hard not to think how a full season with all of our players might have turned out. (sigh)

Check out MDZip breaking out the Shakespeare on a Tuesday morning. Well done!

Diggs is a forward?

Remember that Quincey won the Sixth Man award for the entire conference last year.

Q is more than a forward. He can actually play all five positions when called upon.

Q got mauled at West Virginia when he had to run the point. All this did was further his resolve. He became a serviceable

point guard partially from that embarrassing night. I truly believe that Diggs could now provide capable, even above

average play at the point today. No way VCU clobbers the Zips if Quincey was in the line up.

Having Quincey back truly "reloads" the Zips.

He played VCU a month after that WVU game. 1 assist, 4 TO's. Come on, he's 6' 6". Teams like VCU gobble up guys that size trying to play the point. Stick him at forward with Tree, Harney and Forsythe next year and no one in the MAC can challenge that front line. I mean seriously, our only concern there should be if Diggs and Tree kill someone fighting for rebounds.

Abreu played 37 of 45 minutes (OT) at the point in last season's VCU game, which means that Q played the point 8 minutes at most in relief. Since Q played 27 minutes in the VCU game, that means he played 19 minutes at the wing. He's equally comfortable playing the 2 or 3 positions as a wing. Q played no backup PG in his sophomore season and finished with a turnover percentage of 25.2. Playing some backup PG as a junior, his turnover percentage rose only slightly to 27.6, which means he handled the point pretty well as a backup. Point is not his primary position, but it strengthens the team to have him available as a backup if needed.
