ucfmike Posted August 5, 2013 Report Posted August 5, 2013 Any zip fans going to the UCF Game this year? I always enjoyed our games in the MAC. How do you guys think you'll do in the game and are there any players I should watch out for? Quote

How do you guys think you'll do in the game and are there any players I should watch out for? UCFMike, We lost several key contributors from a 1-11 team (Griggs - D/E, our best CB - Commack, two linebackers - Mangum, our leading tackler and Gilmer, two starting offensive lineman, our TD record setting QB, and Suel our best receiver). You might want to spread the word around beautiful Orlando that your walk-on's will probably start the second half. Don't believe all the hype on this fan page about what Bowden is doing here. He and his staff are working hard and doing an great job, but UCF is way ahead of us. Yours truly, Maj. Reisman Quote

How do you guys think you'll do in the game and are there any players I should watch out for?I'm sitting this one out, I've been there before. With the 7 pm start time, I would go early to tailgate, fans are nice. Early lines show the Zips being a 23 point underdog, and that is probably accurate due to the fact that UCF is that good. I miss having them and Marshall in the MAC, I agree, I liked playing them. Most of the staff seems excited about our rebuilt defensive line, I think I would pay close attention to see who is getting push off the line. On the offensive side I'm excited to see MTB. Back in June coach told us that he wanted him to show something early, sounds like he is. Quote

You guys are way too good for us. No players to watch for on our team. Most of our squad would have trouble making the scout squad on a DIII team. Please have mercy on us. Quote
InTheZone Posted August 7, 2013 Report Posted August 7, 2013 Some of you are absolutely ridiculous in your pessimism, even for a program that's won two games in the last two years. For the UCF fans, we're looking for a big year out of our running back Jawon Chisholm. He is an incredibly hard runner with the kind of speed in his cuts to pick up every inch of yardage he is given. The problem in the past couple seasons is that our offensive line was so bad, there weren't very many inches of yardage given. We also have a very talented young quarterback who will be entering his first season as a starter with a lot of potential. After a year of watching and learning Terry Bowden's offense behind a veteran single caller, he should be primed for a very solid season. Our defensive line will also be a strength, led by FSU transfer Moses McCray. I don't expect us to beat you guys down there, but it will be a much more competitive game than last year, despite what some of these bafoons would have you believe. Quote
ZachTheZip Posted August 7, 2013 Report Posted August 7, 2013 We have two 5th year senior transfers from Florida State playing this year. DL Moses MCCray, and OL Henry Orelus. Those two, along with four other transfers from FBS programs along with a myrad of JUCO players have bolstered our biggest weaknesses from last season: depth on the O-Line and D-Line. Quote

UCFKnightDiver Posted August 19, 2013 Report Posted August 19, 2013 Completed my undergrad at UCF and am starting my masters at U of Akron in a few days. Probably not going to make it down to Orlando though for the game as doing the 16hr+ drive twice in two weeks doesn't thrill me. As to UCF, I did not follow them as much as I would have liked last season but I think we are supposed to be pretty good this year. I'll probably be rooting for UCF but hopefully it will be a good game! Thinking about going out to a bar to catch the game (if it's on somewhere)in Akron. Where do you guys end up usually to watch the games? - Ryan Quote

No surprise they are receiving a good amount of votes and they should probably receive more if not ranked outright. Quote

Where do you guys end up usually to watch the games? - Ryan I'm sure somebody will correct me if I am wrong, but I believe the 'official' watch spot for Zips athletics last year was Johnny J's in the Valley (weathervane lane). Never been to it to watch the Zips and have no desire to, as its about a 15 minute drive from campus. It would really be nice if a bar along exchange or even downtown was the location. Personally, I would recommend Pint's on Exchange St. The owner, Dom, is a really cool dude and a huge Zips supporter. Seeing that its on ESPN3 (no clue if its supposed to be shown on STO or Fox sports whatever the hell its called now), I think it would be wise to ask him about it a few days before so that if he wasnt planning on showing it, he can get the set up. Its a safe assumption that he would be willing to show the game. Quote
