Dave in Green
BGSU kicking NIU's butt 17-7 in the first quarter. BGSU defense holding Jordan Lynch in check and BGSU offense averaging 25.9 yards per pass and getting big play after big play.
Dave in Green
Huskies starting to roll a little with a couple of long field goals making it 17-13. This is a big game for the Zips. If NIU wins and goes to a BCS bowl, it's worth about $375k to the Zips and every other team in the MAC. Go Huskies!
ZachTheZip
Aside from the money, it's easier to recruit from a conference that can send a team to back-to-back BCS games, and produced the #1 pick in the NFL and a legitimate Heisman candidate. Dave in Green
NIU's defense is horrible, giving up another TD and falling behind 24-13. Matt Johnson is eating Huskies alive, and he's no superstar QB.
Dave in Green
NIU's offense and BGSU's defense would make a decent BCS bowl team.
GoZips88
31-13 BGSU at the half. $8,000,000 is beginning its swirl down the . COME ON NIU !!!
johnnyzip84
BUGS looking strong heading into halftime. If they hold on, the next hurdle might be trying to hold on to Clawson. Any word on this, GP1?
Dave in Green
Let's put an end to conspiracy theories involving MAC officials right here and now. The announcers and everyone else who saw it thought NIU legally recovered the onside kick. The officials said no. So MAC officials are conspiring to help BGSU beat NIU and keep the MAC from collecting $8 million in BCS bowl money? Right.
LZIp
18* million. Not ready to call it over yet with Jordan Lynch still behind center for NIU, but it's pretty damn close.

Matt Johnson is eating Huskies alive, and he's no superstar QB. The MAC should learn something from this. When you give your "best" teams an easy schedule...you really have no challenge. You're setting the "best" teams up to fail.
K92
This is shocking, because I read in another thread how NIU was really underrated and they deserved to be ranked a lot higher than a 2-loss SEC team.
Dave in Green
OK, stop action replay just showed that there was definitely a penalty on the NIU onside kick. So the announcers and everyone else was wrong and MAC official conspiracies are still in play.

If NIU makes a miraculous comeback, they will deserve to be in a BCS bowl by virtue of BCS rules. They obviously do not appear to be BCS bowl-worthy based on their performance tonight. Zipgrad01
NIU's play calling sucks. They only run 3 or 4 plays over and over again.

Someone was on here spouting about NIU getting no respect in the National Championship conversation, if you will recall.
K92
NIU's play calling sucks. They only run 3 or 4 plays over and over again. It worked all year for them until they came up against a good defense. I really wanted NIU to blast BG with Lynch looking like Superman. I guess that is what I get for wanting what is best for the conference.

K92
It sucks when the ESPN talking heads are proved right. Another example of why we are what we are. Just for once, couldn't the MAC regular season standard bearer go into the Championship Game and take care of business? Maybe the league office should consider moving the MACCG back to on-campus. johnnyzip84
While BUGS cost the MAC some cash tonight, they also spared NIU from a serious pasting in a BCS bowl. I think it would have been worse this year (had NIU won) than last year against the 'Noles. The Neanderthal offense simply doesn't have a chance against a decent defense with speed and talent. zippy5
Expensive win for BG tonight. Congrats to them.. Unfortunately a lot of people will see it as NIU being exposed. Which may be true. But it also shows the MAC is more than a one horse show. Hope the MAC can keep it up next year, there's a lot of momentum going for it. Yes, but. . . Isn't it always better to keep the illusion going until the last possible game? Notre Dame could have (and really should have) lost to Stanford last year, but they continued their charade all the way to the BCSNCG where they were finally ultimately uncovered for what they were. The Cincinnati team that got embarrassed by Florida in the Sugar Bowl kept their #3 ranked deception intact until the final act. Certainly it is better to face exposure in the ultimate game, right? MAC teams tend to be premature bed shitters.

But there is a part of me that is tired of watching that silly offense succeed in the MAC. I hope I don't have to watch it for a few years now that Lynch and Tettleton are done.
